Description
Adds Sicily, led by Roger II, the norman ruler of the de Hauteville dynasty. Construct large feudal estates with the Baglio improvement and lead your armies into war with the experienced Barone, Sicily focuses on coastal expansion and city growth.
With skilled Saracen Archers under his employ, Roger II's Saraceni rains arrows on foes with rapid fire. In each new Age he can adapt his government to fit his needs by receiving a policy slot from Dedications, and exert loyalty over his lands from the safety of his Palace.

Sicily
Trinacria
  • Coastal cities or cities within 6 tiles of a Harbor district have +15% growth and generate +15% more Great Person Points per turn.
  • Theater Square, Holy Site, and Campus Districts have a standard (+1) adjacency bonus from Coast and Lake tiles.

Barone (Knight)
Unique Sicilian Heavy Cavalry unit that unlocks at Feudalism.
  • Receives one free Promotion when first trained, purchased, or upgraded from an earlier unit.
  • Grants +1 Movement and +5 Combat Strength to adjacent units (except other Barone)

Baglio (Improvement)
Sicilian unique tile improvement unlocked at Feudalism.
  • Must be built on Grass or Plains (flat or hill) but not adjacent to another Baglio.
  • +1 Food and +1 Production. +2 Appeal and +0.5 Housing.
  • Yields an additional +1 Food and +1 Production from every 2 adjacent Farms and each adjacent Plantation.
  • Adjacent Farms yield +1 Food. Adjacent Plantations yield +1 Gold.
  • Grants Tourism equal to the tile's Appeal after Conservation.

Roger II
Assizes of Ariano
  • Each Dedication grants an additional Policy slot of a different type.
  • Cities within 9 tiles of the Capital receive +2 Loyalty per turn and +1 Amenity.
  • Gain the Saraceni unique unit with Machinery.

Saraceni (Crossbowman)
Unique Sicilian ranged unit.
  • Higher Combat Strength (35 vs. 30)
  • Gains +1 additional attack per turn when it hasn't moved.

Excursion to Distant Horizons
  • Likes to gather Great People and build up Tourism. Likes civilizations that get involved in exploration, sending trade, spreading religion, and all manners of diplomacy. Dislikes civilizations that keep to themselves.

As an AOE2 nerd, thank you very much

What happens if you play with Dramatic Ages on? You won't get any additional Policy slots from Assizes of Ariano trait? Does anyone know how to get the policy slots whilst playing Dramatic Ages?

I'd like to add that User Fidel Casserole has made a map of Sicily, playing as Roger II you can put greece, rome, arabia, france, spain and phoenicians as enemies and play a "Sicily all stars" game, especially if you're having troubles with TSL Europe (or you can modify that map to make Strait of Messina walkable to avoid guaranteed dark age).

I subscribed to this mod before the rework and never tried it, now I have just completed a game with it and I have to say this is literally the most fun civ to play in the whole game, I don't know if Firaxis is still upgrading civ6 but if they would make a dlc of this I would absolutely buy it (I know some civs were developed on the workshop by modders before becoming "canon" ones, like Hungary).

I think I'm going to play again with it because I think I may plan in advance the position of my Baglios to maximize output.

Thank you very much for this mod, it's absolutely fantastic.

The TSL Start on Play Europe again is better. You still start on an island, but it is 6 tiles or so of useable space and due to the water adjacency the stuff you can build will make it actually good.

You'll likely get a lot more uploads with that shout-out from Ursa Ryan

@Rosenthorn
yes, that is true, felt like i should mention it for other TSL Afficionados though.
The Rome Start is not that good either, what with the Vesuv right there and basically being locked out of europe by city states north of italy.
But at least they have a few land tiles to work with and build stuff on.
I am going to try and see how the play europe again map treats sicily, compared to the greatest earth.
Are those two all the TSL supports or are there more i am missing?

Sicily TSL being problematic isn't really my fault, lol
that's just where it is
