Description
The "First Fleet" are a series of nine catamaran ferries which operate around Sydney harbour, named after the ships of the British First Fleet which sailed to establish the colony in Port Jackson, Australia. They were designed by Alan Payne and put into service in the mid-80s.

The ferries are about 25m long, and travel at a speed of 11 knots (20km/h, speed factor of 4 in-game). The real ferries can carry up to 400 people, but I have set the capacity at 180. I really don't get why vanilla transit capacities are so small..

REQUIRES MASS TRANSIT DLC. This is based off the Ferry added in the Mass Transit DLC - requires the Ferry depot, lanes, piers etc.

Tris Main/LOD: 2303/424
Texture: 2048^
The gold strip you can see in screenshots is line-coloured.

I opted not to name it after one of the ships specifically, and have removed references to Sydney. I also used the NSW Transport logo (the lovely Waratah) instead of the more contemporary Sydney Transport Ferries logo (the bouncy one you can see on the Tangara) because it had a nicer contrast.

I'm really happy with how this one turned out! I put itn lots of little details around the deck, and used one of the lights on the boarding.. vestibule.
I would've added more but the way the shader adds that wet splotchiness to everything kind of erases finer shading.

Here's a neat bit of history about the First Fleet ferries: http://sydneyferry.blogspot.com/2014/10/the-story-of-first-fleet-ferries.html

Change notes 6/11/2019
- Adjusted the diffuse, which was too bright (it's still 2048^ though, sorry)
- Applied normal smoothing to the mesh, should look a bit less blocky around the curvy bits, basically
- Changed the shader to remove the splash gradient
- Updated the illumination texture to suit the altered shader, and dimmed the lights to match the RiverCat.

Thank you! JenperTC's much more into trains and has a number of projects recreating them, either in 1 or 2 or both. I feel as though I've passed that torch over to them. I want to get back into it, really, but I want to migrate to 2 and I just can't get hyped until the tools are available. I'll need to get the Adobe Substance apps (Designer/Painter etc.) to do the new textures properly, which is an extra ~$70 a month. Not pulling the trigger til there's some clarity.

i was just thinking.. i love and use alot of ur modals other then the ferrys.. train wise.. some other suggestions id have would be the NSW Intercity fleet replacement D sets (ment to replace the v sets in Q4 of 2024) and the new NSW XPT replacement the R sets.. (no date when they will be replacing the xpt)

I have the evacuation diagram, reference photographs and walkthrough videos of the freshwater, however I am sort of in a suspended state of no enthusiasm because of the situation with 2. maybe someday.

Hey Robert if your still working on cities skylines.. i wanted to see if you could make a freshwater class.. if you dont know what they are (i assume you do) the freshwater class is the boat used by nsw ferries for the quay to manly and it used to be used for another run up north (cant remeber were or find anything about it but ik they did) they are basicly first fleet ferries but doubled sided and double the size.. seeing that you already have the quay dock thing for the manly service (the one with 2 levels) it would go perfectly with that :)

You can manually alter its speed if you use the improved public transport mod or advanced vehicle options mod.

Its a little bit too slow blocking all other ferries.

I have republished the ferry and tested it in-game, the blunder appears to be fixed. Thanks for alerting me to it.
