Thank you! JenperTC's much more into trains and has a number of projects recreating them, either in 1 or 2 or both. I feel as though I've passed that torch over to them. I want to get back into it, really, but I want to migrate to 2 and I just can't get hyped until the tools are available. I'll need to get the Adobe Substance apps (Designer/Painter etc.) to do the new textures properly, which is an extra ~$70 a month. Not pulling the trigger til there's some clarity.

i was just thinking.. i love and use alot of ur modals other then the ferrys.. train wise.. some other suggestions id have would be the NSW Intercity fleet replacement D sets (ment to replace the v sets in Q4 of 2024) and the new NSW XPT replacement the R sets.. (no date when they will be replacing the xpt)

I have the evacuation diagram, reference photographs and walkthrough videos of the freshwater, however I am sort of in a suspended state of no enthusiasm because of the situation with 2. maybe someday.

Hey Robert if your still working on cities skylines.. i wanted to see if you could make a freshwater class.. if you dont know what they are (i assume you do) the freshwater class is the boat used by nsw ferries for the quay to manly and it used to be used for another run up north (cant remeber were or find anything about it but ik they did) they are basicly first fleet ferries but doubled sided and double the size.. seeing that you already have the quay dock thing for the manly service (the one with 2 levels) it would go perfectly with that :)

You can manually alter its speed if you use the improved public transport mod or advanced vehicle options mod.
flyagainstthewind Jul 2, 2020 @ 8:39pm
Its a little bit too slow blocking all other ferries.

I have republished the ferry and tested it in-game, the blunder appears to be fixed. Thanks for alerting me to it.
Shrublord Nov 12, 2019 @ 6:04am
Can't wait to see this mod fixed. Awesome model!

Not the foam but for all boats there's like a splotchy sheen that gets applied to the vehicle. I changed it to a normal vehicle shader (same as with the rivercat) to remove this, but the result is it looks for things to reclassify as 'wheels' and makes them spin. I had this in my step by step notes/scripts for the rivercat but foolishly skipped it when updating this. And did not test. Dumb on both counts. I will try to update it by the weekend.

Ohh.. oh no xD
I know what's up, thank you for describing. I change the vehicle shader to get rid of the splash, but I forgot to reset the vertex paint, so it is treating the bottom as a wheel.. 😑
Sorry folks. I will fix it. But I am between PCs for the next day or two.

I think I'm having the same problem. When the ferries are moving, the bottom green part is spinning like a paddlewheel. It's actually pretty funny, since it looks like the rotation is propelling the ferry.
Robert  [author] Nov 11, 2019 @ 10:45pm
Is it because of how slow they are, blocking other ferries.. I recommend overtaking lanes lol
Robert  [author] Nov 11, 2019 @ 10:36pm
What's up with them? :(
Bagi Nov 11, 2019 @ 10:34pm
i cannot even describe the issues i am having with these ferry's, but it is bloody funny as XD

i know its been a long time, but i really cant get over how similar the default ferry looks like the freshwater class, maybe a reskin of the default ferry? :steamhappy:
Robert  [author] Apr 20, 2019 @ 7:25pm
That's how fast they move in real life, I didn't like seeing them zip around. Take it or leave it 😎
I Can See Forever [TR]2 Apr 20, 2019 @ 11:04am
too slow

Given the government had plans to phase out Freshwater-class ferries (used on F1 Circular Quay to Manly only) as soon as next year, it might be a good idea to build that. An 87-year old lady even wrote a song for that. Thanks AJ1304 :)
I've made a map of a portion of Sydney as well if you check my other items, have been using it for some of my screenshots. I've found the hills slightly exaggerated but it has been pretty good.
AJ1304 Jul 20, 2018 @ 5:28am
Yes. This is amazing. Sydney vehicles have been on my wishlist for so long. This makes me so happy. I remember when I built a Sydney map for CiM2 and wishing back then I could get a really sydney-esque map.
+1 for rivercat suggestion (and Supercats)
Actually +1 for a long list of other Sydney mass transit (monorail, certain bus types, trains) haha.

Being on the habour, dodging the Manly ferry...
+1 for the Rivercat suggestion - works well for both harbour and river maps.

Andrew Constance aka Ferry Mc Ferry Face. I love this State Transit Ferry! Thanks for the share.
Robert  [author] Jul 9, 2018 @ 9:37pm
@isaacsitu7777 I intend to make the Rivercat a little further down the line, but the Emerald class (the series with Ferry McFerryface) isn't that distinct, and quite complimentary to the First Fleet. The Freshwater class is also interesting to me but I'm mostly making things for my own Sydney map, which uh.. cuts off before hitting Manly lol. >_>
I'll consider it :)

Tut tut Soul, if you had read the dorky blog post I linked, you'd know the original design generated so little wash it would have been suitable further upriver, but due to compromises it couldnt be used near mangroves, hence the wonderful Rivercat 🤓
Soul Jul 9, 2018 @ 9:15pm
Ah the beautiful Sydney ferries. Just looking at this detailed rendering, I can almost feel the waves eroding the mangroves, the wet tang of microplastics hitting your teeth
isaacsitu Jul 9, 2018 @ 8:50pm
any chance of a freshwater class ferry or ferry mcfeery face?
Damo Jul 9, 2018 @ 8:11pm
Perfect! :)
hemeac Jul 9, 2018 @ 7:38pm
Looks great. Rode a few ferries when in Sydney last month and you've captured the style of it perfectly.
Robert  [author] Jul 9, 2018 @ 7:29pm
I'd like to offer that but I'm not sure how to do it tbh. I will look into it, though :)
HatsuneKid Jul 9, 2018 @ 7:22pm
Like this one. It can float on the water and can be placed anywhere.

Do you mean like making it like the vanilla cruisers or making it a ploppable boat prop type of thing?
HatsuneKid Jul 9, 2018 @ 6:17pm
Is there a transport ship building version?
