Description
Heavy survival gunship. (SV Class 4)

Primary roles: Survival, Coop, Combat, Storage and crafting, Long Range Missions

Major update 7/30/19
_______________________________________________________________________________
Extensive work was done to this to bring it to Alpha 10 specs. This includes rebuilding much of the interior, cleaning up exterior textures, and adding a bunch of new features. However, nothing was removed from the original ship and has the same weapon loadout, part placements such as RCS/Generators, etc.

New Features:

1. New Alpha 9/10 Storage. The ship has 8K storage bay, 5K ammo bay, and 11 large cargo boxes.
2. Shield, Wifi, Detector added
3. Drone hatch + control switch
4. Redone performance mode vs standard RCS/Thrusters. Performance mode now adds more RCS to flight as well.
5. Increased lift thrust to deal with weights and volumes. (Added 12 1x3x1 lift thrusters)
6. Some visual tweaks/block changes thru out the ship, but keeping it very close to the original.
_______________________________________________________________________________

Update 5/12/18: There was a problem with alpha 8 experimental which was causing the player to get stuck getting out of the pilot seat. This issue is now corrected. The deco frame blocks above the cockpit on both sides were removed allowing the player to get out of the pilot seat correctly.

The Merc-MX15 is the latest in the Merc line of ships. It was built for many rolls and designed to be a good ship in most all senerios. For being a class 4 SV, it is still fairly quick and agile. Packing 272 RCS units and a large amount of higher tear thrusters it can move similar to a smaller fighter but also take a beating. The ship was built entirely with hardened steel and has a massive amount of redundancy for internal parts. The core is well protected located below the floor near the crafting area. The hull of the ship was built with layers of small clusters of parts with block seperation and in most places offers more than 1 layer of protection. The weakest point would be the cockpit in it's current configuration. It features the maxium amount of weapons allowed for a SV. Also, all thrusters are exposed and not blocked.

Features:

1. Supports 3 players with seating and 3 armor racks
2. 32 Large cargo boxes, 6 fridges, 6 ammo boxes, 4 constructors
3. o2 for interior space + o2 station
4. Short range warp core
5. All thrusters exposed and not blocked
6. Automated ramp, door and lighting
7. Econony mode - Control switch inside will shut down 1/2 of the thrusters to save on fuel
8. Switch for exterior lights (Spotlights front and rear)
9. 272 RCS units with a large amount of balanced thrusters providing good speed and agility for a class 4 ship
10. Layered and seperated small clusters of ship parts. Extremely reduntant. Weak point would be the cockpit itself
11. Despite being a class 4 SV, it has a fairly small foot print and can be docked on all of my existing bases and CV's including the flight pad of the Carapace C2. It can also dock in the hangar of the Manticore-EX1.
12. Maxium amount of weapons allowed for a SV.

This version of the ship is built for long range PVE survival missions, combat, storage, and coop (3 Players). I am testing some ideas to possibly make a version of this ship for PVP and any feedback would be helpful. My current thought is to add a second cockpit in a secure internal area with no window access and would require a person to control only via 3rd person camera. (V Key) I am not sure however if this is a good idea or not. The weakest point is the cockpit and adding layers of glass both makes it ugly and hard to see in 1st person.

Note: If you want the ship to gain higher thrust speeds, there is a way to do it that I find kind of a problem with game stats. The ship uses 2x2x5 thrusters for all sides but the back. Replacing a single 2x2x5 thruster with 4 1x1x3 thrusters provies more thrust for the same space plus another 8 more blocks of free space. It uses slightly more fuel as well. I think this should be addressed with the game itself as you would think a higher tear larger thruster should be a better way to go and out perform 4 smaller lower tear thrusters as it takes up more space. This is just FYI if you were interested in getting higher speeds.

Enjoy!

Update 4/13/18 - Toughened up the interior ceiling a bit and added a couple more support blocks.

Update 5/12/18 - Removed deco metal frame blocks on both sides of the cockpit near the ceiling. In alpha version 8(experimental) it was causing the player to get stuck getting out of the cockpit. The player will no longer get stuck. The ship however still works in alpha 7.x as well as Alpha 8.

Beautiful ship but not compatible with current rules. CPU use requirement exceeds max CPU and the MX15 only comes with a core. I'm experimenting with removing RCSs and other devices but this ship is probably not viable any longer.

I can't seem to power the ship on. I've checked all individual devices and no dice. Any clue what I'm overlooking?

Is 272 RCS units really needed?

Hi jrandall I found your Merc-MX15 when I was figuring out how to build a SV at the scale of a CV, thanks for the great structure ideas! By the way, I will upgrade it to version RE1.10, thank you again. This message uses GOOGLE translation

Thank you very Razguar :)

@jrandall Ah nuts! lol Its a cool looking little ship. I've been "trying" to build a CV size 3, tier 4 like this, but its damn difficult! Makes me appreciate you builders and your designs a whole lot more! I'm trying to make a small CV based on the idea of the Serenity ship but one that can survive end game. I'm not even sure if its possible.

Thanks ZWAGBAG and Razgaur. This creation was made ~4 years ago before there was any of the newer systems in game. At this point in time, the only way to turn was RCS and a heavy creation required a lot of them to turn decently. I would not recommend using any creation that is this old. I also really cannot update this to work with the modern game without a full rebuild and then it still wouldn't work very well. Just a relic of the past at the point. Not fit for modern game play. And thanks again!

@jrandall I was planning on trying this ship out but noticed if you go on either side of the pilots seat there is a huge heat spike. Anyway to resolve that?

not usable in standard game must remove the 200+ rcs and many other parts. its a fun ship but not in standard mode

Thanks Ex. The Merc-MX12 thru MX18 are all invalid with new patches in game. They are simply too big for the current CPU. I really can't fix them as they need a lot of thrust and power to move them as intended and because of the size and weight, the parts needed cannot comply with CPU. If enough parts are cut to again be CPU compliant (after all RCS are removed), then the ships fly very slowly which was not the intent or how they worked in the past before the newer versions of CPU. Thanks again!
