Hat Painter & Crit Glow Tools

Description
A tool that adds paint to TF2 cosmetics, and another that adds critglow or jarate effects to TF2 items and characters. Includes Halloween spell paints, too!

Requires Team Fortress 2 for crit spark and jarate drip effects.

Features:
  • The normal color tool can't be used to paint hats - it just overlays the "paint" over the hat's default color. This addon uses the same material proxy as TF2 to replace the hat's default color with the paint, making it look exactly the same as it would in-game.

  • The paint tool works on any model with materials set up for paint (every paintable TF2 item, and even a couple extras), and the critglow/jarate tool works on any model with materials set up for either critglows or jarate (just about every weapon, character, and cosmetic in the game). All "hexed" models that used to be TF2 mods should work as well, as long as their original creator set them up properly.

  • Completely dupe/save compatible.

the "2.0" version is someone else's fork of the mod and it's really outdated, i don't recommend using it at all. if you have it installed, then it's definitely responsible for the issue

but as for this mod getting the CreateParticleEffect error, i can't recreate this problem at all, even after uninstalling and reinstalling it myself. somehow, you two have an outdated version of the files installed, which is really outside the scope of the mod itself. i have no idea how that would happen or how to fix it.

you could try entering this in the console, and it'll tell you where the outdated file is:
whereis lua/entities/proxyent_tf2critglow.lua
but if you already uninstalled and reinstalled it, then i don't know how much good that'll do.

TheFirstDecade, your not alone on that one. I too have that problem as well with the 2.0 Version so either way both this mod along with the 2.0 Mod need some fixes

Intrestingly enough, i was getting the same problem with the supposed "2.0" version of it, so i quickly uninstalled that one to reinstall the original, and im still met with the same problem. THEN AGAIN... i technically don't need to use the critglow toolgun part of it when i can just use adv. particle control for it.

prolly the residual lua files didn't clear properly. I always forget runmenucleanupgmas is a thing.

You're running an outdated version of this addon somehow, that file doesn't use CreateParticleEffect any more.

We're still having problems:
[Hat Painter & Crit Glow Tools] lua/entities/proxyent_tf2critglow.lua:88: bad argument #2 to 'CreateParticleEffect' (number expected, got table)
1. CreateParticleEffect - [C]:-1
2. unknown - lua/entities/proxyent_tf2critglow.lua:88 (x2)
the paint at least works, but the particle fx aint working still.

If you're talking about the errors that just started happening with crit/jarate particles, I pushed an update just now and they should be fixed. If there's some other bug happening on your end, then you'll have to be more specific, I can't find anything else wrong with it.
Storm Hedgewolf Nov 6 @ 8:42am
I can confirm it needs fixed

Can confirm, needs fixing.

I think the latest gmod update broke it. It won't show up and it just spams errors in the console.
