Alco PA - Pennsylvania

This mod adds an Alco PA/PB with Pennsylvania (PRR) livery for 4 eras:

1946-1952 Dark green with gold leaf lettering, 5 stripes.
1952-1953 Tuscan red with buff lettering, 5 stripes, Unit number on nose.
1953-1955 Tuscan red with buff lettering, 5 stripes, PRR monogram on nose.
1955-1968 Tuscan red with buff lettering, 1 stripe.

The Alco PA series has often been regarded as the most beautiful and aesthetically pleasing diesel locomotive ever built. P stood for Passenger and A referred to the unit having a cab.

The Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) was an American railroad established in 1846 that served the northeast and midwest. For the first half of the 20th century, the PRR was the largest U.S. railroad by traffic and revenue. At one time, the PRR was the largest publicly traded corporation in the world, with a budget larger than that of the U.S. government.

Like many other railroads, the PRR suffered a decline in the decades following WWII and eventually merged with rival New York Central in 1968 to form the Penn Central. However, the merger did not go well and within two years the Penn Central filed for bankruptcy. In 1976, viable parts of the company were transferred to Conrail.

@Ellabelle - Perhaps at some point I'll have another look at this, but currently I have so many new projects, I just don't see it happening any time soon.

Okay! My understanding was that the PRR painted all their electric and diesel passenger locomotives the same shade of red, because it matched their passenger equipment, but I've never actually done research for a specific locomotive. Regardless, I'm always happy to see PRR equipment!

@Ellabelle - That is a fair question, I don't mind at all. Trying to get colors right is always an issue. I believe the red on the GG1's was the original color on the generic GG1 provided in Transport Fever. Naturally one might think to simply use the same color when repainting Pennsylvania Alco PA's, but after consulting many photos of both the GG1 and Alco PA, it looked to me as though the color of the Alco's was a bit different despite research saying they are both Tuscan Red. I went round and round on this one and finally decided to stop faffing around.and use the best approximation of the color I was seeing in the Alco photos.

I do appreciate your work, but I have a question, and this is not out of malice, but genuine curiosity. Why are these Alco''s a different shade of red than the GG1's you've done previously? Is that on purpose? Thank you!

@mcnigro - I'm sure you don't mean to be, but you have officially made a pest of yourself. You are effectively spamming the comments on each mod that I do. Previously I asked you not to make any more requests. Perhaps I wasn't clear, so here it is, you are to make NO more requests. I will delete any comments you post.

Soon I will have a way to submit requests via my website at which point you can request to your hearts content. But until then, please refrain from submitting requests to me.
