Real Traffic Density ATS

Description
Welcome to the official page of my Real Traffic Density mod

Why a traffic density mod is necessary?

Everybody knows that the default traffic is very basic with very low density and minor differences day/night or type of roads. if you like more traffic you could consider also increasing g_traffic value, however this command will multiply all numbers and bring traffic all day and night with no differences in density, will always increse first the density of those Ai meant to remain low, police, emergency, garbage trucks, ice cream trucks. Game performance is also much affted with FPS drop in all cities if you increase g_traffic even by 3.

Real Traffic Density mod will therefore increase traffic wisely following excel charts (I provided a detailed explanation on scs forum, however I left the forum as the Topic of this mod has been abusively removed)

Why my Real Traffic Density mod is better than other traffic mods?

Because my mod uses rational spawn numbers according to the game’s limits checked personally in hours of testing; the numbers used at rush hours are +/- the maximum that the game can handle. The density follows real graphic charts the whole day long with peak at rush hours and reduced at night, according also to the type of the road, size of the cities, etc. Correct spawn numbers also offer a correct spawn ratio cars vs trucks vs other types of vehicles, again according to real life

Why my Real Traffic Density mod is an unique traffic mod?

it’s the only traffic mod which added motorcycles, sport and classic cars as separate type of vehicles (available of course if you use these packs and my engine sounds packs for them). These vehicles will therefore spawn following their rules, regardless the numbers of packs used.
My traffic mod is also the only mod which brings a separate speed class for emergency vehicles and also for motorcycles and sport cars, which will drive with increased speed wherever possible (speed limit is not given by road signs). Other Ai can also break the speed limit at random basis with a certain value, up to 35% of the speed limit. Ai cannot drive faster than their limit set in their files, therefore this rule won’t really apply to trucks but rather for cars
Is the only known traffic mod which keeps low spawn on merging roads to avoid unwanted traffic jams while keeping a great overall density

Other characteristics of my Real Traffic Density mod

- Speed limits for existent Ai vehicles is not affected, my mod only changes speed limits for emergency, motorcycles and sport cars
- Semaphore cycle was improved to match with increased traffic density including for left turns. yellow duration after green is also increased you don’t need an additional mod for this! (until ATS 1.47)
- Classic cars and motorcycles can also be seen on country roads with low density and reduced speed (if you use these mods)
- Ai can overtake on simple continuous line on 1x1 roads

Compatibility:

- Vanilla map and all map DLCs
- MHA Pro Map and ProMods if higher priority of my mod
- Not tested in other maps (it should work if you keep higher priority of my mod)
- All existent Ai traffic packs; additional traffic packs are highly recommended, due to increased density you may want to see more model in traffic, not repetitive models

How to use:

-most important rule: never increase g_traffic value! keep always g_traffic 1 when using this mod!!!
- place my mod above any map mods and other mods that may affect density.
- to use motorcycles, classic and sport as separate vehicles you need to rename the storage files in these mods to match with the root from my mod def/vehicle folder (see guide from ErbKaiser)
- add recommended launch options (on Steam right click on the game and click properties) paste the following line (alone or alonside other rules if you have already others, with a space in between. after years of testing these settings work the best for me with the specification that the mm_pool_size must be half of your existent RAM (I have 32 GB):
-mm_pool_size 16384 -mm_max_resource_size 50 -mm_max_tmp_buffers_size 1000 (pool size must be half of your available RAM). these settings and especially the mm_pools_size if used correctly will substantially increase performance and eliminate disturbing stuttening (as from 1.50 -mm_max_resource_size and mm_max_tmp_buffers_size are obsolete, I really encourage you to keep mm_pool_size active if you have many Ai packs)

Known issues not related to my traffic mod:

- merging on motorway can be sometimes slow (prefab issues)
- Ai non respecting rules like semaphore (prefab issues)
- Ai trucks indecided on which lane to be (scs bug)
- At roadworks Ai stop for a second then go, although they have green light and should not stop (reported bug by me, never fixed)
- areas with no spawn or low spawn (Los Angeles) (scs issue, might have been fixed in 1.46 hopefully...)
- Ai stuck when turning left or at weigh stations, or just without reason (new bugs after 1.40)

Why you should use another traffic density mod?

- due to its complexity, my mod is frequently affected by game updates and it may happen to cause game crash if it's not immediately updated. I offer constant support to my mod, still it might be disturbing to have a game crash and not immediately knowing the cause, or be bothered by many mod updates.
- if you don't care about a realistic traffic density or about game FPS or frame rate performances and only want to see some more traffic around, but no still you don't want 10 police cars at once (just 5) by using g_traffic command

Please note:

- if other mods claims a better performance don’t fall into the fancy description, there is not magic into it, better performance means much less traffic density which also means that is not a realistic traffic mod

your feedback is very valuable therefore discussions can start in the comments sections below

other external mods from my collection that I adapted to work with my Real traffic density mod:
-Real Emergency Ai pack (find it on external websites mods)
-Real Traffic Density Winter addon (same websites)
- even more sounds are available on my Discord server https://discord.gg/G8zEmGynpG

enjoy!

This mod was heavy on my CPU and or Memory even before 1.54. It seems to be worsen when traveling in Missouri.

no idea @legonair, I play on 1.49 and works very well. I did not change anything in my mod ever since so must be something SCS have done :steammocking::steambored:

Cipus this mod is heavy on my CPU and or memory is there something I can change to make it less heavy on the CPU and or memory? I would hate to stop using this mod the roads feel empty without it.

@starky [ FR ]:
You need to read the description. It definitely says that you need to add the motorcycle pack seperately. He never claimed once that he adds motorcycles.

You sell dreams to have the maximum download you say that you have added motorcycles in the traffic there is no motorcycle it is a scam your mod you just increased the density of traffic via the config file thing that can be done ourselves.

Strangely, I tried it again today and the game no longer crashes.:steamhappy: Everything seems to be working.
I also applied the launch options recommended. I also have 32GB of RAM. Let's see what happens.

I'm glad I can help somebody with that information!

@Cipus:
Thank you for the mod by the way. Using it since I've discovered it and it makes the world much more alive. Keep up the great work. :104:
Btw, maybe you should include the load order problem somewhere so people know about that from the beginning.

@Raffi_M thanks man I have the same problem and now it's resolved

@Romarus:
I don't know if you use Realistic Train Lengths . If you do be sure to put it below this mod. The game crashed for me when I had it sorted the other way.
