A.K.A. the Xcom EW Overwatch Rules

Removes the condition against firing from concealment for all reaction fire abilities in the game.
Also allows the normal reaction fire penalty to be applied to reaction fire shots fired from concealment for all reaction fire abilities in the game.

This removes the annoying "Overwatch doesn't fire from concealment" rule while, balancing it by restoring the typical reaction fire aim penalty to those reaction fire shots taken from concealment.

There shouldn't be any conflicts with other mods. I'm not directly modifying the default templates or anything, just ducking in and editing them after they've been created.

For a slightly different take on Overwatch rules that still allows reaction fire abilities to fire from concealment but does not apply the standard reaction fire aim penalty, check out Overwatch Disrespects Concealment Wotc instead:

@Boge - I understand. I'm sorry, but this mod is just not going to do that. What you describe is technically possible, but it's also substantially more difficult than just changing the behavior of Overwatch abilities in general. It's not something I'm going to invest the time into it right now.

Basically I want this to NOT replace overwatch, but to give me a second overwatch option to ignore concealment.

I don't want to be stuck with one or the other. I want to choose how I want it to function depending on the situation. Now combine that with Smart Overwatch (not updated) and then you have a real freaking rad overwatch mod. Options, options, options!! Or maybe just give me a true interrupt system like Silent Storm or Jagged Alliance. I just got a soldier that Interrupt skill, haven't used it yet, but maybe that's what I'm after, a mod to give all soldiers that instead of overwatch.

You know what would be neat? A separate overwatch that you could specify to attack from concealment rather than it being from the general overwatch. Sometimes I don't want my soldier to do an overwatch shot unless they're spotted. Sometimes I want them to overwatch even when they're concealed. So having those two separate options would be nice.

@ElementUK Yes. With this mod anyone in overwatch fires from concealment as soon as an enemy unit moves into their LOS. It makes setting up ambushes more rewarding, but the drawback is that you need to only go into overwatch if you are ready to spring an ambush, if still concealed.

Is this the mod that is making my soldiers shoot on overwatch when concealed and not meant to shoot ? My game has gone from me choosing when to shoot, to a single overwatch shot being taken when my guys are still in concealment

I'm not sure if it's too much to ask from Divine but it'd be incredible if this was its own separate ability. So for instance you could choose whether you want to fire on whoever you see no matter what or if you want to reserve your shot for when/if concealment is broken

I get why they would, in some situations (especially in ironman/psuedo) it'd be beneficial to try to sneak around an enemy pod but have people on overwatch JIC they do get caught, I've always thought there should be a seperate kind of overwatch that appears if enemies are in view that is called surprise fire or something like that. This mod however is a good compromise imo

I had wondered why my soldiers didn't fire sometimes when they were concealed exactly for the purpose of suprise fire...what a weird thing for the devs to add in the first place. Thanks for repairing the game
