Tired of Warhammer III feeling like a chaotic brawl? This mod transforms the combat system into a deep, tactical experience inspired by Total War: Shogun 2. (Or at least I tried to)

PHILOSOPHY

Every unit has a role. Every decision matters. No more mindless blobs.
Positioning, flanking and terrain are now the keys to victory.

ROCK PAPER SCISSORS COMBAT SYSTEM

• Spearmen devastate cavalry and monsters — high AP damage and massive anti-large bonus

• Swordsmen/Axemen shred infantry efficiently

• Missile units are deadly at range but extremely fragile in melee — protect them or lose them

• Cavalry crushes archers and vulnerable flanks but fears spearmen

• Monsters & Dragons act as supernatural heavy cavalry — powerful but not invincible

UNIT TIERS — EVERY UNIT HAS A PURPOSE

All 1000+ units have been rebalanced across 6 tiers using the game's real recruitment data:

• Tier 1 — Basic recruits, low morale, weak in prolonged combat

• Tier 2 — Trained soldiers, the backbone of early armies

• Tier 3 — Veteran fighters, reliable and disciplined

• Tier 4 — Elite units, significantly stronger and harder to break

• Tier 5 — Elite Special / Regiments of Renown, the best of the best

TERRAIN MATTERS

• Units charging downhill deal significantly more damage

• Archers on high ground have increased range and damage

• Flanks and rear are now far more vulnerable — protect your flanks or face the consequences

• Units in formation receive a defensive bonus

• Height advantage is now a decisive tactical factor

OVERHAULED MORALE SYSTEM

• Units rout faster when attacked from the rear or flanks

• Casualties hit harder on morale — losing men quickly causes panic

• The death of your general sends shockwaves through your army

• Battles are decided by positioning and momentum, not just raw stats

LORDS & HEROES REBALANCED — NO MORE ONE-MAN ARMIES

• Lords are no longer single entities that massacre entire units solo

• They are powerful warriors but will die if surrounded or caught alone

• Mages and support heroes are extremely weak in melee — keep them behind your lines

• Lords now serve their true purpose: inspiring and leading their armies

• Legendary Lords are visibly stronger than regular lords but still mortal

MAGIC SEVERELY RESTRICTED

• Winds of Magic pool drastically reduced — magic is rare and costly

• Magic skill lines removed from lord skill trees

• Powerful spells are nearly impossible to cast

• Battles are won through tactics and positioning, not spell spam


PLANNED FOR FUTURE UPDATES

• Further faction-specific balancing

• Complete skill tree overhaul: replacing magic skills with command abilities

• Artillery and flying unit rebalancing

• More terrain and weather effects

Credits

This is my FIRST mod and I did it because I hate the combat in this game, I did not like the SFO changes and other mods, idk it was missing something so I took things in my own hands. Shogun 2 is my favourite game, and the combat is without a doubt the best in all the games, so I will try to replicate that feeling.

I know some will say; warhammer without magic? Is impossible the game was made to include that blablablabla....
I don´t care if the game was made thinking about magic, this is a mod to limit that and to bring the feeling of old total war :)

Expect broken things since I am quite exploring modding and balancing units.

In the future I will rework again all the factions, skill trees, "mechanics" for each faction and other stuff. In time I will do it.

I think it was fun war wh1 and 2 but wh3 just takes it too far. Same with all the 'nuke' abilities. 1 for ikit claw was good, now every other faction and dlc and rework gets one. Not fun and unique anymore

Can't wait till you introduce less hp for all entities. Ive been playing med 2 botet 3.0 lately and simpler is better xd. The tech tree and skill trees, its all too much, more is less in some cases imo :)

I'd have to really strain myself and spend a lot of time trying to remember something dumber and cringier than this mod. And that's already saying something.

In vanilla, powerful units and magic often make formation and battlefield positioning almost meaningless. Infantry also tends to become disposable cannon fodder.

As a player who enjoys the more historical Total War style, I really appreciate your efforts.

I wouldn't have 7/8 of the hours in this game if it weren't for mods like yours, the combat is ♥♥♥♥ in vanilla. I saw you commented on another mod asking about the shields. Ive played many hours with that one as well.
