I want to help but I do not understand the issue, what would be possible with this mod that you can't do with the version that is updated for 1.8?
Is there some reason you would want to use this one?

By the way, do you plan on doing some stuff for the three Ascension Paths as well?
Worse traditions? Which ones are worse?

I have 3 main things I want to do:
- Replace some "worse" traditions with new more interesting ones (a few less interesting was added in the compatibility version as well as to adapt to the new patch)
- Making "lesser" traditions swaps, like bonus to robots only for empires that uses robots, bonuses to megastructures only for those with the perks.
- Traditions swaps for hive minds etc.
I also have the design for 8 more traditions that I want to add some day.
All that will take a lot of time though, so I am slowly adding stuff in. Unsure when what will be included.

Also, any progress on making more machine and hive mind traditions?

Right now the main mod is remade as a compatibility version, so if you have been using this one than a switch to the main mod will offer more or less the same experience.
Something involving Chivalry or Honorable Warriors. Maybe some of the traditions give bonuses to army morale or pop happiness or even additional unity, or even a new building.
Another good one would be for a Tradition that is very ironfisted in theme and bonuses.
Hm...the Archaeology Tradition Tree suggestion got me thinking of two for when they put the swapping feature into the game: since we got the Liberty Tradition Tree from your mod, maybe something that is thematic for say slavery, a Slaver Tradition Tree?
Also another suggestion I have would be something that would allow you to build monuments or something like the Grand Mauseloum we use to build in the past prior to the new Government and Civics update. These monuments could be pyramids, Grand Mauseloums, statues, royal gardens, palaces, etc. that give you Unity as well as decrease Unrest. Maybe a Legacy Tradition Tree?

Well, the thing is, I was never happy with the fact that in the vanilla game, you're locked out of the other Ascension paths when you pick the Tier 1 Ascension Path Perk. I understood that it was for balance purposes, but still. I do play with a mod that lets you pick the Tier 1 Ascension Path Perk, but you can only pick one of the three Tier 2 Ascension Path Perks (just to keep things a little balanced now). Still, there was one Traditions Mod where you were required to have one of the perks to adopt that Ascension Path Tradition Tree. I guess you could look at that one and see if you can use that as a spring board to give you some ideas.
Ascension Paths based traditions are an interesting idea. I haven't had any traditions locked things yet, they are doing some modifications with the next patch and I will have to have a think about adding those kinds of traditions, and how to handle them.
(That is something I am happy to have input on, when they add Tradition swapping, how do you want to see it included in this mod? Do you want things like purity tied to fanatic purifiers? Until now I have had everything available to everyone let the player decide for them self, while having weights for the AI)
Archaeology sounds interesting, I will add it to my list of potential themes to make something of.
Another thing that I would suggest is create a tradition for the three Ascension Paths: Psionics, Synthetics, and Biological. Also, maybe an Archaeology Tradition tree that gives us bonuses on anomalies and events.
