@Livnthedream Stars are made out of a huge amount of matter. Mostly hydrogen at the surface but a lot more heavy elements as you get closer to the core. Hell pretty much all heavier elements then hydrogen are formed at the heart of a star up until iron on the periodic table. The idea of this and similar mods is that you are harvesting the core of the star for materials. Since a star is generallly so big it wouldn't affect the star too much adversely over the course of a stellaris game though it would cause the star to shrink over time.
