I've not tested it fully yet, but I've gotten most of the characters to work somewhat. All you have to do is delete several of the files in the mod folder, and it stops crashing on startup.

Really I want to do a mod of this but... I need to adquire knowledges about the modding of this game.

Unless I feel like it, no. I have no experience modding Repentance and its been 3 years since I've touched Isaac modding at all, so I would have to relearn everything. Its not a commitment I'm willing to make for the foreseeable future. If someone else is ever willing to update it then I'd be more than happy to work that out.

If you really wanted to play this on Repentence then I would find a character replacement/addition mod that works in Repentence and locate the sprite sheets for its characters. You could copy my sprite sheets into the other mod's folder and replace its character's sprite sheets with mine. You'd also rename them to match the names of the original sprite sheets.

I really don't know if that'll work though. I did something like this back when AB+ came out and edited the sprite sheet from another mod and just messed around like that.

The older versions of BoI don't support Steam Workshop mods. This mod was made for Afterbirth+ so its no surprise that it still works fine in that version.

The crash you described in Repentance is exactly what happens to me too. So the mod is definitely broken on Repentance. Fixing it isn't on my priority list either, but at least the mod is still playable on the version I made it for.

However i feel like if its crashing when loading into the game the error is probably something to do with a potential sprite change (if the changed the size of Issac's sprite for example), how they load and render the sprites, and/or missing animation frames. However this is coming from someone with 0 modding experience and only a very small amount of coding experience so take this guesses with a grain of salt

If I ever do get into modding games myself, I may take up fixing this mod up for repentance, however i wouldn't count on that.

Decided to test some things out with this mod to see if it worked on any of the lastest versions of each dlc, and found a couple things out.

In Rebirth the mod didn't load at all
In Afterbirth it didn't load at all either (idk if rebirth and afterbirth just dont support the workshop or if the mods just that fucked, but either way it doesn't load)

Then we get to Afterbirth plus, in which the mod loads and from what i have seen works (may have some crashes, i didn't even do a floor so idk but it appears it works)

And then there's Repentance in which it starts out promising as it loads the mod, and when you load into the game the custom sprites do appear to be working. HOWEVER, it seems that whenever you load into the game, the game crashes.

so out of the 4 different versions (cause I am almost certain that its impossible to mod the flash versions, and even if you can, this mod isnt gonna be what does it) only one of them works, and it isnt even the newest one.

I wonder if the mod works in Afterbirth + still?

If I ever get back into Isaac I'll try to fix it again. Anyone is free to take the sprite art I made and put a mod together with it that does work. No permission needed if its for personal use.

@Slemtem I faintly recall reading about some convenient functions for updating mods to Repentance in the patch notes for the update that re-enabled modding, Maybe those might help? I think it was either V1.4.0 or V1.5.0 that they added them (and re-enabled mod support.) I hope this helps!
