Question: this mod breaks some of the civ icons from Senario.

@Gundam Woundwort I'm over two years late to respond to this, but the answer is basically that this mod was made for players who think historical accuracy is more important than visual distinction. The change of Brazilian icon in particular, was to reflect that the Brazil you're playing as, is the empire as it existed during Dom Pedro's lifetime, rather than the modern Brazil as we know it today

All civ icons are blank -- is this out of date or an issue on my end? Any tips to fix?

Why was the Brazil icon replaced with the Civ5 one? At least the Civ6 one is recognizably Brazilian.

As a final note, the three lions heraldry is used to represent England in both football and cricket, hence why it is so well known by the public.

I'd like to suggest changing the icon for England. Mostly because of the aesthetics, the default icon is a rendition of St Edward the Confessor's Crown - it is a legitimate symbol but not well known compared to the three lions coat of arms or the St George's cross flag, which have near universal recognition in England. The crown icon is also somewhat tacky and reliant on stereotypes about England, in the same way as the bull icon didn't appropriately represent Spain.

I'd recommend the English element of the Royal coat of arms, deliberately excluding the French, Irish, Scottish and Hanoverian elements included in later centuries as they are represented in-game by other civ's. The French/Hanoverian elements would be removed in the early 19th century anyway(due to the 1800 Act of Union for the former, and the separation of Hanover from the UK at Queen Victoria's ascension in 1837 respectively).

Yeah, I found that happening on my end too, particularly when switching between full and lite versions in-game - the game just forgets the modded icon atlas exists, and tries to draw the icons from the default one, but using modded information. Restarting the game when only one version of the mod is active fixes that.

Nevermind im an idiot, i had the Lite and other on active at the same time.

Idk if this problem is an easy fix but all the country icons are bugged after downloading this mod, either off centered in all 4 corners or they're just blank. Any reason this could be happening?

why no before and after?

can you add a screenshot that "before - after" for icons which includes most changes?
I ask it for an eye candy purposes.

Debating a certain artistic choice and presenting an alternative for consideration is a natural thing to do, and I've always welcomed feedback (some icons got tweaked, changed or reverted over the years thanks to it).

It's the violent demands and name-calling that disqualify such requests outright.

Star symbol is a little bit ambigous symbol, can be used for many civilisations (Chinese, Russians, even for Americans). As other civs don't use current coat-of-arms as their icons (remember that civs =/= nations or countries).

Turtle is though; a common symbol in Vietnamese myths;

No. Icons in Lite aren't "updated" so to speak - they are just meant to be simpler, more in line with vanilla. Plus I like having options and a noticeable difference between both versions.

Any chance you'll be transferring your updated Spain and/or Auckland, etc. icons back over from BCI Lite?

i prefer the portuguese symbol of the game than the one changed here, the brazilian one was ugly in the game you made it lot better.

is there a way i can view all the icons in the game files seperately?

Take your time :) The mod is great and as I said I don't think the Vietnam icon needs a change, the sword on the back would be a nice touch, but it isn't necessary at all :)

Hehe ;) It was a good call to be honest. Made me reconsider the mod's goals a bit, and ultimately make BCI Lite (which now I prefer to use).

Not sure when I'll update BCI as I've been really busy lately - but since I don't intend to change Vietnam's icon too much cause I like the vanilla turtle, there's not much anticipate anyway. :)

I'm only considering adding the sword to the turtle's back to make the icon a tiny bit more detailed. Otherwise I think that exchanging a pretty distinct icon of a turtle into yet another bird would be robbing the icon roster of something unique.

There's been criticism of too many eagle icons in BCI anyway. Ditto about a potential dragon icon, when there's already the Chinese one.

I personally also like the Vietnam Icon, I don't think a change is necessary.

Another option for Vietnam could be the Lac Dragon or the Lac Bird they're both major figures in Vietnamese folklore.

Yes, I know that turtle, Emperor Lê Lợi's legend. Vietnam used Dragon and Lotus in the history, but those are too close to China and India, I suppose Firaxis did know them. :)

We'll see. I like the turtle icon and its thematic connection to a legend about Le Loi. Maybe it could be improved upon, but too early to say.
