if the ashes could be disposed of as well, this mod would be an excellent utility to clean up savegames and minor performance issues with the game too. enough character models laying around in a cell, and the engine begins to strain under the extra placement data in memory and rendering, and also savegames can get bloated with trash like bodies being left to pile up in the file too. The latter issue is more a problem with placeables and inventory items on a map due to dead bodies auto-despawning after a certain time. For those that kill a lot every play session though, that junk can pile up in a savegame file and cause problems too. I could see this coming in handy for modders that do siege mods like the Skyrim civil war revisions and such. Have clerics clearing battlefields with this or something of the like. :D

Sometimes inside videogames, especially during the beginning of Skyrim, I sometimes thought to myself, "These people attacking me were once kids who grew up having a family, hopes and dreams. They just made the poor decision to assualting my mage, who, in all honesty, is just going about looking for ingredients to make potions and perhaps look for a mentor to learn new spells from.". And because of that, I wished that there was a way to somehow give these poor magnificent bastards a respectful buriel or something, me treating them as a simulation of an actual person.

Even if they are just lines of code. So, cool mod.

I went and goofed about in the Creation Kit a bit, and found a way to increase the magnitude of the spell. I managed to make it affect just about everything except for things that can't be rezzed, like dragon skeletons after you absorb their soul. But in doing so, it made the magica cost of the spell climb drastically as well. Doesn't seem to be a way around that, sadly. So without using console commands, it remains rather cost prohibitive to those without a massive magica pool.

However, I did want to say that I absolutely love your mod. It's incredibly imaginative, and very very handy to have. Great work! It remains on my favorites list even after all this time.

Sorry guys, haven't touched this since February of 2012. So, it's way obsolete. I think i'd have to sit through the tutorials again to figure out how I made it. Sorry guys.:spacepony:

Ok, I am not one who cares about cleaning up bodies unless they are in my way, which they are in buildings and dungeons. the spell only works on lower level monsters, people, and such. I keep getting the message the whatever is to powerfull for this spell. I went back to useing lightning or fireball to move bodies out of the way. Can you tweek this to work on stronger dead victims? not going to unsub unless it stays this way.

I love this. Hauling bodies down to a nearby river or steam for clean-up is so tiresome. :)

Would it be possible to make the spell completely silent? I'd like to be able to use it to assassinate an entire camp of bandits without ever raising the alarm, but they keep hearing the spell and getting agitated.

search for the console commands to solve the problem on the wiki, there should be commands to get past the problem point in the quest or some way to properly respawn the defiler.

So let's say I killed the defiler before the quest was started...How do I go about finishing out the quest? The quest giver cycles through generic speech...

Thanks, there's been a few time in the game where I killed someone and got no bounty's at all and then someone walks up to the dead body 20 seconds later looks at it and then looks at me and then I get a bounty. I don't know if the game is that realistic or if it's a glitch but this is awesome.

@[Y-DOG] lecocodu02 click the green subscribe button, and the mod should automatically install the next time you run skyrim, and update thereafter whith each consecutive loading of skyrim.

You should add the console code to automatically add the spell in the description. There have been times where I have had someone die who I want to creamate, but I don't have the spell handy. Usaully if I go off to get it, the body will be gone by time I get back.

Basically you get the quest from the priest without any conversation or dialogue. A glitch, perhaps. But the spell effect is exactly as promised, and for those of us who are obsessive-compulsive about cleaning up after ourselves, turning our poor victims into ash piles is awesome.

Nice mod! Something weird though.. on my old save the priest's campsite looks just like on your screenshot here, but when I started a new game I find the priest standing by a pile of planks. The tome is on the ground and I can accept his quest, but his dialogue skips straight ahead (except for the introduction).

this is a farly good spell i guess for some but i think he could make it a side affect to fire spells to that they turn in to ash some times whun fire kills them.

@indarilnerevar It is already on skyrim nexus. The version there is one behind though, since I was trying to get the bugs with my quest worked out here before updating it there.

Hello Koor !

Been waiting for something like this for a long while, was getting tired of having to ice storm dead tings half way across skyrim into a river just to disspose of them XD

Really like the concept
But unfortunately I am unable to make use it ;(
due to an odd launcher error that wont let me sync with workshop..
so may I request this be uploaded to the nexus @ {LINK REMOVED} ?

Btw this mod really looks great and i hope to be able to use it soon!!!

Ok, added a VERY basic quest to get the tome (though you can still just pick it up if you'd like). Unfortunately, since I was trying to use the wiki tutorials to learn while making this, I kept hitting walls. The two current issues I couldn't get around were that for some reason I couldn't seem to get the quest marker arrows to show up, at all. The other, was I couldn't seem to get enable to work on the quests disabled antagonist, so it's there from the start, and can currently be killed prior to accepting the quest, thereby breaking said quest. I spent 8 hours today pretty much bashing my head on the keyboard on this. Hopefully some other mod will open this up and let me know what the heck I was doing wrong, as I didn't get much feedback on the creation kit forums.

Oh, and it is now called "Last Rites" in your spell book.
