But thanks for all the positive feedback though! If/When I get SSE I'll probably update this mod.
It would be interesting to hear people in town comment on your mechanical army when they haven't seen it before. Like the follower's "I've never seen anything like that before." when you walk by with one of these the first or second time.
You might consider adding a dagger or sword into the ingredients for the sphere. Overall, I have to say I love it, and it's an awesome mod, especially considerring it's your first one! Sorry I had to post this in multiple comments.
2. Have charges like most staffs and rods that cast spells or summon things. That way you need full soul gems in order to recharge your awesome army.
Even if you only needed to recharge the control rods every 30 uses or so, and the constructs lasted for as long as 3 minutes at a time, it would still feel like some resources are being spent on summoning them. As it is, the long materials list does make them a challenge to acquire, but once you get them, you have an unlimited supply of whoop-ass at your disposal forever. Blood-Dragons are the only thing I have encountered thus far that seemed to be able to provide my army with a challenge.
Some balance suggestions:
These are great fun to use, but it does seem incredibly overpowered. I put 3 skill points into the perk, have a single item, and all of the powerful spell casting I've been working toward is now unnecessary because I have Lydia and 3 dwarven spheres running around killing everything that looks at me the wrong way.
I would suggest making these a shorter duration more in line with atronach summons. Yes, I know, they're constructs, but what if my character doesn't fully understand how the original versions are self-sustaining and so needs to recharge them with the control rod every few minutes? The other problem is that the control rod doesn't use up any resources. I'd recommend having it require 2 things:
1. I don't know who talkie toaster is, nor can I find any mods on steam by that person.
2. This is my first mod and I'm actually quite proud of it.
3. There are more then 10,000 mods for Skyrim in the workshop. I know this may come as a surprize, but some of them will be similar. For example there's atleast 5 mods that showcase Throwing Weapons, and COUNTLESS others with similar spells, abilities, balancing solutions, ect.
the perk ID is
DwarvenTinkering1
DwarvenTinkering2
If the parts were too easy to get, you could walk into Markarth, quietly take out the two guards, and procceed to rofl-stomp the rest of the game. (Then again you could just go to the secret area)
On a side note, thank you for the critique and for using the mod. You're idea about taking schematics from dwarven ruins and re-applying them is genious. It's given me a few ideas about how to do just that!
