Yeah. There are some people that like it and some that dont. It's the same with everything else they put in the game. I'm almost certain it'll look good with every frame though, size wise and all. I made sure of that. I don't consider this a contest, its more up to DE and what they think will fit in the game. I pay attention to what players want in the game and try to meet those needs. If they pick it great, if they don't I just modify the design or move on. If something doesn't get picked that you like its not all of DE's fault, there's usually something wrong that looks off and doesnt flow with the games design on the artists end. ( i.e. too big, too much clipping, lack of detail ,too noisy, too fantasy,etc.) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Adding to my previous comment.They aren't going to put something in the game just because everyone likes it (it's been stated on a previous dev stream). Theres a lot of criteria that needs to be met before they take it in. If it doesnt fit the games aethetics ( i.e. too fantasy) or if it's technical (over poly budget or not enough shape language). It has to do more about the artist and the choices that's made during the creation process vs what DE decides gets in and what doesn't. Going into this you have to have the mind set that this will not make it in and just enjoy making cool shit.
Getting the energy shape was a challenge. The reason for the shapes like pyra/prime is so that it doesn't get in the way of the gameplay. Theres certain restrictions to take into account when we're designing these like max polycount of 7.5k tris (they wont allow anything in above that because of performance). I'm hoping the animated scrolling texture I provided will help with that. I gave DE the opportunity to do w/e they want with the energy effect. I was told it looks great in game so we'll have to wait and see!
I also designed it so you wont need the emissive (it's just a bonus :D) and have two giant ass blades coming out.

Sorry for the delay, I just posted up some updated images. I had animated scrolling issues so I had to redo the emissive. It'll look something like one of these images or the sketchfab preview. Theres no easy way to actually preview the animation unless you know Unreal, Unity, or Second Life and I don't know how to use any of those (yet). So I'm hoping it'll look halfway decent when its animated realtime.
Yeah I've been told it looks like a lot of other stuff too so I'm not surprised that it does :P

If aiming is a problem which I dont think it will be considering you can go crazy with the melee stance mods, I doubt this will be an issue. You can always fashionframe it otherwise :D
