Would a 2-car set on this be possible? Metra does actually run 2-cars on the branch lines, as weird as that sounds, and I'd like to use it for a similar setup.

The lead car is the engine, powercar.

More specifically the engine isn't separate from the trainset

OuTSMoKE, it's electric, so it doesn't need a separate engine.
