Sorry for basically not existing, guys.
Glad you can learn something from it, though!

This looks much better than my attempt. I only made some icons to be able to use this dwelling and to practise working with the editors. I might create a dwelling of my own with some other small things inside a unit theme. Still struggling with some things, but this is Gloweyes thread ;)

If you use dropbox perhaps or you can add me in steam if you prefer. I made racial dwelling icon how the represential of the race in Tome of Wonders look.

I could send you my version of not yet published mod files. Is it possible to PM someone in the steam community? (don't know, never tried)

Great to see some additional interest in patches. I was thinking the other day to incorporate this mod in a series of compatability patches by updating the models and icons to finish its contents.

I may require some permission in order to do so. It would be useful. Then most games could work together with Nomads, Lizardmen, Shadow Elves, Archons and Dark Elves along side.

I merely have a planned goal to do this by the end of year to finish modding for Aow 3.

All set, found and done. I will upload it, when I do it all again, as I only did it in my test mod ;)

Hi Gloweye, ich managed to make the dwelling appear on my random maps now. I also created some icons for the buildings and units and edited some lines in a xml file to offer myself some german names and texts. I like the units, especially the executioner is a tough beast. The storm lord is a refreshing different type of lvl 4 units.

So far, so fun. I need to figure out where to link the new icons to the dwelling updates and the units though. Any idea in which rpk I might find them? When I finish this eventually, would you like to get my changes to update your mod? I might try to create something fresh in the future and could add those Dark Elf Dwelling bits in there too. What do you prefer?

Btw. you once did write some python script to help with the localization of mods. Does it still exist? ;-)

Interesting idea, I will try it. Thanks for answering :)
Gloweye  [author] Aug 18, 2020 @ 5:22am
Not completely finished no. Never got around to it, then got busy with other projects.

It sounds like it's conflicting during map generation. It's been a bit to long since I've opened the corresponding packs in the mod tools, though.

Feel free to give it a shot. Just tick these mods in the manager, then press create new mod, open the RMG pack. It should be enough if you add Dark Elf Dwelling to the dwellings pass for the Underground.

Just tested if it spawns without decodence and it does. No unit icons though. Since there are still no unit icons, I believe this dwelling isn't fnished anyway?
Goemoe Aug 9, 2020 @ 11:05am
Just to clarify: we can use the beastmen dwellings, which show up often. It is just those elusive darkelfs, who don't seem to like us ;)
Goemoe Aug 9, 2020 @ 11:02am
Hi Gloweye, don't know if you still read this. We still play AoW3 every day and just recently discovered the mods (shame on us) we use several mods, decodence/RMG, the beastmen dwelling and the darkelf dwelling. Though we encounter units from it now and then, we never found a single dwelling in our RMG generated PBEM games.

We do encounter a crash of the game now and then during map generation. Do you think it might be because the dwelling and decodence/RMG don't liek each other?

Are the mentioned new models finally included?

Hi all,
A poll of the best mods of AoW3 is being organized and this one has been selected among the top 20.
You can rate it and the other 19 mods here: https://www.the-battlefield.com/aow3/index.php?page=bf_poll&pollnumber=27

Haven't tried it yet. Cheers

Its intended that the walls kind of match the dark rocks - after all, the flavor is that they're hidden underground. The waterfall...I kinda like it that way. Might be right with the pink globe tho.

Anything gameplay related, or not played it that much yet ?
Myshkin Feb 28, 2017 @ 9:01am
OK thanks. Well first of all I respect your hard work, but since you asked I will tell you what I think.
The pink globe on top needs improvement. It is way too big and looks like a blooming flower.
Color contrast is poor and walls do not separate visually from dark rocks. Waterfall is interesting conceptually, but there is something in it that makes me thnk it is out of place. I need to look at it more carefully again. I hope this helps.
Gloweye  [author] Feb 28, 2017 @ 5:34am
Well, the visuals and stuff aren't there yet. But if there's some specifics you dont like, feel free to post them. Perhaps I agree.
Myshkin Feb 28, 2017 @ 4:24am
Am I the only one that doesn't like it?
alexej Oct 29, 2016 @ 1:31am
Awesome looking dwelling model indeed :) Great work
Gloweye  [author] Oct 27, 2016 @ 12:14am
High elves are much closer to wood elves than to dark elves IMO. And we have no lore reason to assume there's wood elves that didn't mend.

So no, that's not in the planning. Also, wood elves don't have as much of the units im missing with the dark elves.
Aya Oct 26, 2016 @ 7:06pm
Are there any plans on doing a similar thing with Wood Elves as a dwelling? (High Elves are the amalgamation of Wood/Dark)

Checking every day to see new models :)
Charlatan Sep 28, 2016 @ 2:51pm
Hello people.

I'm the one who made the models. As Gloweye showed, they will look very different ingame.

The screenshots I made here are from Blender, a 3D Modelling tool, and they show the raw 3D Data. In one word, they are not "rendered." The Comparison Gloweye linked: http://www.charlatan.at/TMP/DarkElvesWIP_04.jpg
...is very accurate there.
In truth these just lack lighting and specular effects, and the difference is as huge as the link above. That's pretty much normal in modern 3D models.

It's slowly progressing towards the Dark Elf Shade, Bladedancer and Spider Queen - the only 3 units left. Once they are done, we need someone to rig them in 'Autodesk Maya' or else I'll explore how to do that. Then you will have unique models and appearances for the D'elves!
Naetell Sep 17, 2016 @ 5:15pm
I fully stand behind the reasoning on #2.
When the mod tools came out, I dediced I'd try my hand at making a fully functional Shadow Demons race, but the modeling required stopped me from ever getting anywhere with it.
That, and the recreating the Harvester's Devour ability from AOWSM; I never quite got it right.

Even now I have the prototype projects for the Shadow Demons and a Racial T4 mod sitting around that'll never get released unless I magically gain epic modelling skills overnight. (And even then it would take months to get it all done.)
alexej Sep 17, 2016 @ 12:29am
Looks great, will follow this mod for sure and test it after every update. Thanks for sharing
Gloweye  [author] Sep 17, 2016 @ 12:12am
All units are placeholders visually. Here's some links to how the actual units are going to look:

Stormlord:

Sharpshooter:

Note that these units don't have textures applied yet. The difference is going to look something like this:

After replacing placeholder icons they will look nice really. Observations.
1. Storm Lords are strangely small on unit card, compared to all units while sharpshooters, shades and blade dancers are bit bigger (cosmetic) Blade dancer blade goes through her sister in arms body but she won`t object :D and Matriarch sitting position is quite funny hehe
2. Shade could use rework to look more shady (assassin or more ghostly style or something) and less armoured - high-elfy
They play quite nice love how they are strong deadly attackers really but are fragile too, nice work. Hope you will keep improving this its great addition and it will force me to play with underground avoided before :)
Gloweye  [author] Sep 16, 2016 @ 8:34am
Yeah, there's quite a lot more of temporary giant stuff in there. It's the dwelling I used as template for the Dark Elf stuff.

Thanks for testing it out.
alexej Sep 16, 2016 @ 5:54am
They exist ! Got them on sixth map with many dwellings option (using cheat to reveal on first turn) They have temprary giant icon in diplomacy, will conquer and use them ;)
