You can use my Dragon Priest Masks Unleashed mod, though. It allows you to change the armor class of any mask you want.
If you want you can try out my Dragon Priest Masks Unleashed mod, though. It restores Morokei's 20% shout enchantment and allows you to change the mask into a clothing-type item.
@Monstahkiin: Yeah. My other mod also fixes that.
From the UESP ( http://uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Morokei_(item) )
"It should be noted that although Morokei does not have a unique enchantment in-game, there is an unused entry in the master file for Morokei that indicates that it is supposed to also include a Fortify Shouts buff of 20%. Though this entry exists, it is not properly assigned to Morokei, resulting in its current enchantment."
There's even a mod out that fixes it. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=3329
The idea of allowing the player to change the masks' armor type by himself is interesting. I will start working on something like that as soon as possible, but I can't promise anything yet.
That might be due to NPCs do not usually equip clothing as they most likely wear armor instead as they see having a better rating.
At the moment this mod only changes the Morokei mask; I will probably add tweaks for the other masks as well, eventually. Next will probably be Vokun, Nahkriin and Konahrik. I will probably upload each as a seperate file, so you won't have any problems if you are playing multiple saves at the same time and are using one of the masks on a non-mage character you want to benefit from the mask's original armor protection.
The font I am using comes from the "Main Font Replacement" mod at Skyrim Nexus, "Magic Cards" type.
