This mod is obsolete as my other Unlockers now contain the same functionality, so use the Crynsos' Faction Unlocker+ instead.

You should switch to one of my other Unlocker mods, as this one is no longer getting updates due to being obsolete. (as mentioned at the top of the description)
It still mostly works but lacks many of the bugfixes and so on that my other Unlockers received.
If both of you use the same other Unlocker, you should be able to continue your ongoing game just fine too.

So a friend and I have been playing a co-op game for quite some time, using this mod... I mean, we're only at turn 30, but we started the game weeks ago. Anyway, went to load it up today and it causes the game to crash every time. Any idea why? This mod is the only mod we were using.

White images typically mean that you have missing file references somewhere. If you select a non-custom lord and then select a custom one afterwards, the files don't get magically found, instead the game realizes that there is missing data and instead ignores it and fills in the last known data into those spaces, so the previous' lord portrait and map images.

The lord images are managed in frontend_faction_leaders, the startpos_map as it is called, is found in ui/frontend ui/startpos_maps and named accordingly to the faction.

Crysnos, I have a very quick question if you don't mind. Perhaps you could answer it in here if the response isn't long.

I was just wondering how you get the lord portrait and campaign map picture to appear properly on the lord / faction select screen.

For me, the image of the lord and the campaign map icon on the following screen appear as a blank white image if I select it. However, if I select a non-custom lord first, the images for my custom lords show properly (but not the campaign map image, it remains white). I know that my file paths are correct.

I noticed that your mod, with Sarthorael and the Chaos Gathering (as an example) instantly shows the image of Archaon when selecting Sarthorael and the appropriate campaign map image on the following screen.

How did you achieve this?

Mousillon has a nice Lord now, but other than his unique duel ability, The Red Duke is just a normal Vampire Lord with a reskin and adding Kemmler to it gives a highely popular minor faction a highely demanded LL, which still sounds like a good combo to me, having two Lords to start out with just gives them that extra bit of survivability that they need as one of the few minor factions surrounded by nothing but enemies to survive.

An alternative that I did think about for quite a while now is turning Kemmler into a true vampire horde faction as he is in the lore, but although I'm fairly sure that is possible, it's gonna be a lot of work and not going to be done anytime soon.

I can't put Ghorst into Templehof as that produced the case of requiring the DLC he is a part of for the entire mod (no matter which faction), as without it you get thrown back to the menu screen right away. Probably related due to having a DLC LL in a non-DLC faction, despite you still requiring the actual DLC to even attempt to start playing with him. That issue is clearly visible in Magnar's original LL mod with Volkmar in Averland.

Also, historically Kemmler has never been really against the Vampire Counts, so it wouldn't make much sense to put him there either.

now that Mousillon has a cool faction leader, i think it is time to remove Kemmler from it. You are right about Templehof's starting conditions but it would be really nice to have Ghorst or Kemmler on there. Thank you for this mod.

This mod has become obsolete as all of my other mods now provide the exact same Multiplayer capability, without the downside of cluttering the Single Player faction selection menu.

So I won't be updating this one anymore, unless someone really needs it for the sake of completing a campaign. I heavily recommend moving over to any other of my Unlockers, which will of course remain updated. In fact, they just got a pretty big update, so check that out!


I won't delete this mod, as it could become useful again once the amount of factions becomes a fair bit bigger with the second or third expansion packs that will merge with the main game, but until then I plan not to touch it much anymore.

Just have one person use for example the main Vampire Counts faction and the other one can select any of the other three, Mousillon, Schwartzhafen or Templehof or any other combination.

Change Ui to the smallest size, have resulotion 1600+900, now you are able to press any of the nations in campaign, when you have taken the nation you want, you find the button to start game next to carasoone, at the right of it. when you are ingame, just change back to your standard settnings.

That is what the specific racial faction unlockers are for, this one is not meant to be used for single player for exactly that reason.

Yeah, the stuff related to Balthasar is a bit buggy right now, though the Reikland change is intentional to make it more of a in-progress rebellion and easier for the AI to defeat the rebels.

Better for the background story (How can all of Reikland fall to rebels unnoticed when Karl was just doing a tour through it?) and it should prevent the rebels from still being alive at turn 50.

Nuln Province has a public order of 330 from buildings per turn and balthasar is without any units. Also the Empire already controls almost the whole Reikland Province

Yeah I see, on real I like this idea on vanilla the bloody spears was too mutch obliterate quickly if they fail to shut down Zhufbar quickly and after they are near 3 bigs factions VC and Dwarves and greenskins, really thanks for your mods and your work, it's really enjoyed ! Could be cool if you release a version toomorow and a last one one several days.

I considered it fine for the Bloody Spearz to have that extra amount of territory, as they are only barely able to self-finance their now three armies that they have split over three provinces against at least 5 enemy factions (Red Eye, Karak Kadrin, Zhufbar, Main Dwarfs, Red Fangs/Main Greenskins), so they will be plenty busy with trying to keep as much of that territory as possible without being overpowered, especially when playing them yourself.

Yeah, I'm in the middle of unlocking all the factions in the new mini campaign, which seems both more enjoyable to play as alternative faction and less work to do, as the things you can do don't seem to be quite as heavily locked down by scripts as in the Beastman mini campaign.

Expect it over the next days, maybe I can bring a basic version out tomorrow but there will be some other changes that I will probably need to do to make all elven subfactions equal to the main ones, so optimizing it will take a bit longer.

When your mod is going to be update ? I know upgrade some mod can be long, i just ask cause i really like your mod and i want to play with it, with a date more easy to wait it !

Yes that is the reason, to compensate a bit for the fact that they are LLs and make it a bit more challenging, especially as all other LLs now have just one area to start with and to give it a bit of a story background as well as I also did with Azhag.

The empire seccionist have Wissenburg, it's normal or not ? I was surprised to see them to have this region ! It is cause you try to make the factions who you gived a LL only one province ? I think it's not needed cause we can play every faction with your mod.

Hello, your mod is nice!
However, my friend has the wood elf DLC, and wanted to play as an elf in coop while I wanted to have Karak Norn. But if we activate your mod, elves are unpickable for him. Is that because an update is necessary?

Yes, that is intentional (and mentioned in the description) as to split up the Legendary Lords over multiple factions, to provide more interesting gameplay to minor factions, make the usage of less popular LLs more common (Balthasar is a prime candidate here) and provide access to LLs to both people wanting to play multiplayer together.

The Cult of Ulric and Carroburg exist in the Beastmen Mini Campaign, but as I don't do custom factions and don't see much reason to do so at the moment (that is a hell of a lot of extra work), you'll have to be satisfied with the many factions that we already have.

Also, there are already plenty of other mods doing faction renames and flag recolorers, this is not one of them as I aim to keep the scope of my mod as narrow as possible.

It seems that there are some sissues with waagh armies in multiplayer campaign. The waagh status goes above 80, then the next turn will go back down to 80; producing no waagh army

Maybe the text should be in red instead of blue! so people might see it. but it's a good point that people doesn't read the descriptions at all if they missed this part.
