can we melt down armour, if its not too much trouble
finndo-eewta May 26, 2013 @ 8:32pm
I figured it was something like that as it just seemed like something you would think of when creating this type of mod. As it is I have categorized chests in my homes, one for each type of equipment regular and another for each type magical, one for favorites, and one for stuff to give followers, and one for ingredients, one for potions, one for soul gems for enchanting, one for books (easier to manage than 50 bookshelves), and who knows how many others. lets just say I have a small amount of OCD.

anyway, I just dump everything and go naked while I stock up on just the items I want to have in my inv while crafting. makes hunting for stuff a lot eaiser too. I also have to set my carryweight to 35000 just to walk around town when I have not been back home in a while :)

@finndo77 As much as I would absolutely love doing that, the crafting mechanics target items by their BaseID, seperating a Steel Sword that you put a lot of TLC in from the Smelter Trash ones is beyond my ability.

I just wish that equiped and magical items showed up differently from regular items, can't tell you how many times when playing low level characters I nuke something I was using thinking it was junk as my higher level characters wouldn't be caught dead wearing that class of equipment! (example gauntlets of expert deft-hands shows up as "leather gauntlets" when smelting). if nothing else, marking favorite items would be good enough for me.

I think it would be nice to nerf the mod a little. So some metal gets lost when re-smelting matherials (due to oxidisation, etc.). For example, 1 iron ingot would need 2 iron daggers. Maybe that would be more balanced

Oh. Great, thanks!
Nulwin  [author] Aug 12, 2012 @ 11:51am
@Nirdian: On the Crafting+ collection that I formed as a 'hub' of sorts between the mods, you can find Crafting+: Armor.
Nirdian Aug 12, 2012 @ 5:08am
Is there any way to extend this function for armor? I find myself lugging around heaps of different armors and no way to efficiently get rid of them (and just dropping them seems kind of a waste).
BentoFox Aug 8, 2012 @ 3:34pm
I never go for daggers either - I always travel to all cities to buy all leather/leatherstrips and make leather bracers out of them :3
Mother of Cats Jul 18, 2012 @ 7:00am
helps out with skills like smithing and its a legit mod keeping the games realism
Arama Jun 17, 2012 @ 8:27pm
I never smith daggers. I always smith helmets.
Castle Jun 1, 2012 @ 5:40pm
I love this idea. Gonna use it right now.
Nulwin  [author] May 3, 2012 @ 1:17am
@j_vela_89: No chance on here, but I'll upload Crafting+: Misc when it's got a fair amount of recipes, so look out for that.
BRUCE W. May 1, 2012 @ 5:51pm
i really don't want to add someone elses mod, but can you make an update to create "Gold Ignots"? just asking...
fishandchips Apr 30, 2012 @ 1:04am
Can you metl armor? or is it just weapons? if its just weapsons could you add smelting of armor in the mod or is the not possible?
BRUCE W. Apr 29, 2012 @ 5:37pm
Thank you so much.. i would give you a hug, but a thumbs up for me a fav and a subscribe! :D
Gear73 Mar 19, 2012 @ 9:31am
Would it be possible for you to add categories? Also, is it possible to add an option to melt several weapons/armor at once, rather than punching my keyboard a million times?
Nulwin  [author] Mar 14, 2012 @ 10:54pm
@Exzyle: Done.
Exzyle Mar 14, 2012 @ 2:43am
Can you please allow smelting of silver weapons? Lugged all kinds of Silver weapons back from a companions quest, only to find out this is not implemented.
ᐯerðandi Mar 6, 2012 @ 10:00am
Thank you very much for this mod! It feels realistic and nicely works with my other realistic style mods, such as Imp's Improved Needs and Hypothermia.
|DGT| Lord Scripts Feb 18, 2012 @ 11:25am
ARGGGGH, I use another crafting mod that adds woodcutter axe and stuff like that.... now it broke my game :(
DarkAngel13 Feb 15, 2012 @ 8:38pm
Can you add conditions to these recipes so they are not visible if you don't have the item in the inventory as it is a freaking nightmare to scroll through all the items. Thank you
Kai Feb 12, 2012 @ 6:40pm
Sooner or later, we'll need a weapon customization system, like with Fallout's weapon mods system.

Maybe using gems and custom hilts and blades to change it. To keep it simple, it's limited to combat weapons like two handed, one handed, and archery.
[AJ] [UK] Feb 11, 2012 @ 4:43pm
@Menos He means when re-forging the aquired metels.
BunchofBees Feb 11, 2012 @ 9:43am
glass sword wont smelt down
Menos Feb 11, 2012 @ 9:37am
@Dualhammers: Smelting doesnt increase your smithing skill.
dualhammers Feb 11, 2012 @ 12:49am
I haven't used the mod yet but my initial impression is no single item should smelt down into the same amount of metal that was used - otherwise I'd just recycle a single item over and over to level skills.
RottenWelshman Feb 10, 2012 @ 5:43am
Seems this guy is just doing seperate versions/uploads of this complete mod here - http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=874 I'd highly suggest you get Val's Crafting Meltdown then this guys mod.
hoohaa2 Feb 9, 2012 @ 9:51pm
with this mod, iron war axes are the new iron dagger. war axes take 2 iron to create and give 2 iron. also, iron swords and iron maces were left out.
DrWiggles Feb 8, 2012 @ 5:36pm
@smokinlettuce There is no download link, simply hit the subscribe button and the next time that y ou launch the game it will automatically download.
ThighCandy Feb 8, 2012 @ 4:05pm
Where the heck is the download link?
Urthor Feb 8, 2012 @ 12:08pm
lol Iron daggers, transmute spell here I come!
Gumby Brain Specialist Feb 8, 2012 @ 3:50am
@Miseris, If you read the description, it says he tried but it didn't work.
hed0nic Feb 7, 2012 @ 10:16pm
Where do I go to melt them down
Seraphim Feb 7, 2012 @ 9:15pm
Note: from the screenshot you don't melt down as forges you use a smelter. (logic?)
Miseris Feb 7, 2012 @ 8:02pm
This is a nice idea but it needs to be way nerfed. Small things like daggers and bracers should give an ore, if not less than an ore (only a 35% chance of one ore or something if such a random chance system is possible), with the larger pieces (breastplate, 2h weapons) having a higher chance of reward.
Burrito Feb 7, 2012 @ 4:53pm
can u plz make it so we can melt down iron daggers
aradraugfea Feb 7, 2012 @ 4:53pm
Gives back more material than ever actually went into the gear. This is basically a cheat.
N Feb 7, 2012 @ 4:49pm
@andrew: that would be ROLL.
The Dark Ranger Feb 7, 2012 @ 4:29pm
Another man smarter than Bethasda! Man we are on a role people!
DFW Kerser Feb 7, 2012 @ 3:38pm
downloading for no reason lol
Charvis Feb 7, 2012 @ 3:13pm
Val's is still better. But this is a good start.
overlay Feb 7, 2012 @ 3:01pm
Just hope this was balanced properly. Good idea, though. Downloading.
suffrage for frogs Feb 7, 2012 @ 2:36pm
Sorry, Waffle - it says weapons. You can break blades down, but not armor.
Darkdream Feb 7, 2012 @ 2:32pm
amazing mod, i love to see this kind of improvemnt to the game :)
KenMan Feb 7, 2012 @ 2:12pm
Should instead use a an algorithm to create a random chance of getting nothing, and getting 3/4 1/2 and 1/4 the amount required to make the weapon being smelted down, not only for blance, but also for immersion. Otherwise this is just a cheat.
76561198050917095 Feb 7, 2012 @ 2:03pm
can this work for armor, say the ebony armor back down to ebony ingots, or the ebony blades back to ebony ingots
Donald Love Feb 7, 2012 @ 1:51pm
Shouldn't work on daggers, for balance. :P Is this set to, like, 3/4 of the metal returned?
Rayvon69 Feb 7, 2012 @ 1:41pm
Snap! I was talking to my wife saying I wish some one made a mod like this and BOOM! here you go... SWEEET!
Jeffercize Feb 7, 2012 @ 1:40pm
Been waiting for this
