A sugestion if I may, majority rule for federation votes i.e. going to war or giving another empire ascosiation status.

thanks, can't wait to see what you come up with

@ricardoconsuelas, yes, probably. The voting system has been changed a bit, which might make some interesting things possible now. I'll probably look into making some events first, though.

I wondering with heinlein out wether or not you would do anything to the mod

It doesn't work. In the launcher, it's written that it's for the 1.2.1, and I need the 1.2.5. Help me, please !

Really what the devs need to do is have the federation presidency be decided by various means. For example, a mode where the presidency rotates like normal, a mode where the most powerful navy is the president (some restrictions apply), a mode where the largest pop empire is president, a mode where the president is elected by members and the player would negotiate support for presidency like a trade deal, or a mode where there is no presidency just a simple majority vote for everything (basically an alliance but majority not unanimity). I rather like the idea of federations, particularly with my pacifist play through but currently I use the president forever mod to just do as I want.

Hello all: First of all, I just fixed a rather serious bug that caused the old pre-1.2 diplomatic options to appear instead of the new ones. Very sorry for not catching that one earlier.

Anyway, since the Asimov update has introduced voting for new federation members in vanilla, which was this mod's original purpose, the mod doesn't really do anything at the moment. I still hope to implement some more advanced federation mechanics and events in the future, but my current plan is to wait until the Heinlein patch is released. It seems that Heinlein is planned to change federations even further, so although it could be a while, I think it makes more sense to wait for it and take it from there.

In the meantime, your suggestions for things you'd like to see continue to be very welcome - either here or you can drop by the forum thread linked to in the description above.

Love @prbeeney's ideas; especially intergrating weaker federation members. Also making the player perm fed leader.

update please

Have you imagined about more....untraditional federation interactions.
I.e.:
-Random diplomatic events that would result in the departure/expulsion of a member
-Shared Federation ethos
-More benefits to join/form a federation
-Possibly for federation members to be integrated, or partly so. I.e. You are stronger than all other federation members combined, so you (player) take over all members, rendering them effectively extinct and a new entity forms from members former worlds, technologies, and fleets. I was thinking this could only happen if all members share 2/3 ethos

@Marcvsiulius & @Theyn_T, yeah, those are the sort of things I hope will be possible. The voting mechanic itself can't be modified, so it'll all have to be done via events. But once I have a better idea of how the modding code works, I think there are some possibilities.
TheynT May 17, 2016 @ 11:54am
Have you thought about the possibility that for a new member in a fed half of the current members have to vote with yes? And that the presidents get's a veto (or just 2 votes). :Hire:
Marcvsiulius May 15, 2016 @ 8:32am
Have you thought about a mechanic to vote laws in common or to enact elections?
Lanfranc  [author] May 15, 2016 @ 4:57am
Ok, I made a new one called "President Forever", which stops the control from rotating. Link is just above here.
Lanfranc  [author] May 15, 2016 @ 4:16am
I think that should actually be very easy to do. I'll take a look at it. I'll probably put it in a separate mod, though.
malou003 May 14, 2016 @ 5:44pm
Personally I look for a way to keep the control of the federation or at least able to keep the control of the federal fleet instead of the AI doing nothing with it. I hope it's clear. (Google translate)
Lanfranc  [author] May 13, 2016 @ 9:13am
It is annoying, yes. Unfortunately, much of the war declaration function seems to be hardcoded, so it very likely can't be changed.
Nucleotides May 13, 2016 @ 6:49am
I would love to just have general propose war and have everyone vote on it. I'm so sick of the guy that has no freaking army starting the most annoying wars to fight where half of the people you are fighting cannot be attacked. I'm about ready to never join a federation again.
