Hm. Select my escorts? Well there's obviously Tatiana. Who wouldn't love that thick Romanian accent? Then there's Chastity. She DOES NOT live up to the name.... hehe Candy is great! But unless you also hire Mandy, it won't be spectacular. Candy & Mandy work best as a pair. And finally Cindy Lou really comes through with the whole girlfriend experience.

... Oh darn! I think I misunderstood which sort of escorts this mod was talking about. ;)

@VII It appears that the addon Tougher Escorts https://te4.org/games/addons/tome/tougher_escorts is overloading the base game's escort-duty.lua, which is responsible for calling the new EscortRewards:givers hook in ToME 1.7.

The Tougher Escorts addon has not updated their escort-duty.lua file with the latest ToME 1.7 code, so it is not calling the escort hook that this addon uses to determine which escort to assign.

Idk, i kill leader john 2 times with different tinker classes, than go default company, choose tinker as first encounter, then i go check it and i have random escort, not tinker

Fixed an issue where the escort selections would be ignored after loading a save.
If you selected your escorts while you were on v2.3.0, choose your selections from the menu again.

I have updated the addon for ToME 1.7.0.
It is not compatible with older ToME versions.

Hi Pseudoku, I feel a little silly because this morning everything is working fine. Apparently all it needed was for me to restart my computer. I tried to replicate my issue from last night, but it just kept working flawlessly lol. I did restart the game multiple times last night but I guess a full restart was the answer. Thanks for looking into it though I really appreciate your time!

When I try it, it doesn't skip over the talent selection screen.

This is what I did:
1. Start new game as Adventurer
2. Talent Selection dialog appears
3. I picked a bunch of talents
4. I exited the talent selection dialog
5. The quests appear and I'm prompted to select the escorts
6. I suicide to some monsters
7. I select restart with the same character
8. The talent selection screen doesn't appear and the escort selection dialog appears
9. I choose the escorts and open the talent selection screen.
10. I observe that the talents I selected are still there.


Are you using any other addons or doing something different from my steps?

Hi Pseudoku, is their anyway to disable the select escorts at the start of the run. Everytime I pick adventurer it skips over my talent select screen. This is a bit of a hassle because when I eventually die I have to redo all the talents as it registers that I didn't pick any.

It normally displays a dialog to pick the escorts at the beginning of a run.
If you add it in the middle of a run, it won't be able to know how many escorts you've already taken so the counts may be off.

When you use the game menu (Esc), there should be an option for "Addon: Select your escorts (again)"

I added it after doing 1 or 2 escorts. I don't see how to choose escorts. Above it says "you may change future encounters in the game menu (Esc)" but when I press esc I don't see any option about escorts. How does it work?

It might matter if you added the addon after meeting some escorts, since the mod can only keep count after it has been added. But it's more just that it'll show the wrong count and let you pick more than you should get (but the game won't give you more escorts than the maximum). It won't prevent you from meeting the maximum number of escorts.

Did you check Dreadfell or the T2 zones? Escorts can spawn there.
This mod does not affect where the escorts are encountered. That is entirely the base game.

That unique flag only affects the menu and not the game's escort quest.

This mod hooks into the "Quest:escort:assign" hook to replace the possible types with your selection.

I just know 【unique = true】means you can only choose Tinker once,false means you can choose Tinker many time.

I found the answer just now with your mention of such. I overlooked one of the patch notes and it shows that tinker classes start with the cave unlocked which likely disables them from getting the escort?

Strange I've been testing the tinker escort extensively due to the tinker cave bug in 1.6 and I've always gotten it first.
What other addons are you using?
darkgod changed the escort quest code to reset to the default possible escorts if something went wrong.

Apologies for any spam but I've been having some issues regarding this addon. Mostly I use this to pick tinker and then all random, but for 1.6.0 I have been getting the random escorts instead of a tinker for my first spawn. Is this a 1.6.0 change / feature or a glitch with the addon?

It applies to any area before you exit to the world map (either by taking the exit or through rod of recall). So if the the tiles are inaccessible on the current level, you can try another level within the zone.
The entrance to tinker cave is only "generated" once you go to the world map.

There is actually a good amount of free tiles at the top of the map, 1 tile down, so you may have better luck there if the location I gave before can't be reached. Just not too close to the left since that is water.

To workaround this bug, you could use the rod of recall near the top left of the map you're in - 2,4 and 3,4 are free tiles. In other words, stand 3 or 4 tiles away from the left of the map and 5 tiles from the top of the map.

Oh, I figured out why it's not working (had to alter the game to debug it)... It's definitely a bug in ToME.
It is trying to find a free random adjacent spot based on the x,y coordinates that your player was at INSIDE the zone before you leave to the world map. In many maps, is at the edge of the map if you take the exit, so that ends up being 0,y or x,0... so it tries to find a spot near the edge of the world map, which has no free spots.

If you use the rod of recall, your x,y won't be near the edges, but may still be technically inside terrain (mountains, forest, water, etc), which is why it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't.

Unfortunately not at the moment. I've informed darkgod about the bug. Hopefully it will be patched soon.
If not, I'll try to see if I can overwrite the dlc files to make it always appear at a certain location. I've never tried to overload a dlc before so I'm not sure if it is possible to do it from an addon.
Unfortunately the DLC source code history is not publicly accessible so I don't know the exact changes that were made in 1.6.

Confirmed it's a bug in ToME 1.6... I was able to reproduce that it doesn't appear on the world map even without my addon enabled.
