I've been listening to the Shadowrun soundtracks again recently and remembered your campaigns and how much I loved them. I really need to replay them one of these days, but are your planning to do anything new, maybe?
El Pollo Loco Oct 29, 2024 @ 10:21am
Nevermind, I managed it with Game Extractor!

Now I will go and listen to HongKong-Combat-Kowloon-Int2 20 000 times on repeat.

Hello cirion.

I recently finished the Saga, and just started Caldecott Caper, and I just wanted to say how much I love your campaigns. This all must have been so much work, and you provide it for all of us to enjoy for free in the fantastic game Harebrained developed for us. I am very grateful, I am absolutely entranced with the story, and how I can experience one big event as it develops through the years, through eyes of multiple protagonists. You deserve an award of some sort.

I have one plea for you: I am currently playing the Caper with your music replacer, even though you don't recommend it. Could you please somehow provide the tracks so I can listen to them outside the game? I am absolutely in love with so many of your replacement tracks. I tried to extract the resS file with Audacity as some users suggested but keep getting an error. I tried other ways, and I just can't work my way to extracting the tracks :(

I am very surprised by how good this was. If you're on the fence about trying it, I say do it. It's worth it. Even better if you play the other two in the series first.

Damn... Now I feel a bit bad for lashing out at the author for AS, because this campaign is much better than his first creation. It's like comparing modern Coca-Cola to the original, which had
real drugs in it. It even has well-written romantic options that unfold through the game, something that original campaigns lack. The story was enjoyable, even though there were no consistent antagonists throughout the game. The party characters were well done as well. The only downside is the computer with the Shadowland Forum which was absent, but that's not a dealbreaker. I guess nobody read those anyway except me who practically reads everything. This moc is much more enjoyable than many modern AAA titles. Good job! I'm now preparing myself for the final chapter. I assume this one is gonna be even better since it's your last creation. After "Hong Kong," I still want to stay in this universe as long as I can. And you, definitely deserve
the recognition.

Invocation Array: I didn't realize that someone used them for a trailer until I saw them in the credits! I always imagined them being in shadowrun! I really liked Antnumbra, and got all the references. (Kind of feel silly I used the same name like I normally do.) But this is the best campaign I played. Had the romance, the character development, I liked all the characters and loved to hate the baddies. Well made!

This mod is once in a life time experience, I loved it from start to finish and felt every second of it.

There seems to be a specific square in the southwest of Baghdad By The Bay that you immediately die if you step on it. Not sure if this is intentional. Luckily I'd just saved after knocking Zeilor on his ass.
Great mod so far!
Kabalan20 Nov 5, 2023 @ 4:20am
Just realized the first part of your series, the Antumbra Saga, is Dragonfall only. No Hong Kong version?
hi3r0ph4nt Aug 16, 2023 @ 7:26pm
Thank you for a beautiful expansion.
spaceninja80 Jun 12, 2023 @ 2:23pm
you're the best. wish some of the other devs brought their expansions forward to the hk engine. this inspired me to get all the expansions for 1 & 2 and try them, too.

Fraggin amazing.

I realy enjoyed it!
Amazing storry and design!

This is indeed an awesome job. Thank you sincerely
Ara54 #Linux Mar 14, 2023 @ 7:40am
Can I endorse this twice? This is so good that I've just finished playing it for the second time (my first time was more than 5 years ago).

:truelove: This alone is a strong reason to buy Shadowrun: HK.

@cirion: Any chance you'd ever make a fourth chapter? Patreon/Kickstarter?
darkvatican Mar 9, 2023 @ 6:55pm
I started this trilogy out of order, with Calfree in Chains. It has been a lot of fun seeing all of the twists in the plot that you cooked up for these adventure stories. I’ve only just saved Persi and about to exact revenge on some corp scum, but when I’m done there, I look forward to starting on the first part of the trilogy. Cheers.
cirion  [author] Jan 9, 2023 @ 11:53am
@Dead Owl: Congrats! There aren't a TON of differences, but several things throughout the campaign can change based on prior choices. There's more branching in the third entry.

@Mansku: Glad you liked it! IIRC the game can slow down if you reload a save in the hub and visit the disco. That's an engine-related issue and I don't think I can solve it without removing the disco entirely.

@spaceninja80: Merry Belated Christmas! For as much as I complain, the engine is pretty moddable: HBS released the same tools they used to build their own campaigns, and other models have figured out how to change a lot of stuff. I'm so pleased that this felt professional to you, I spent a lot of time polishing it!
cirion  [author] Jan 9, 2023 @ 11:53am
@Gareque: I loved the HBS games, and am delighted to hear that this compared favorably to you!

@Taliensin: Thanks for the note, congrats on a successful run!

@teh_wamburger: I'm glad that you've been digging the trilogy. Keep on running!

@Lan: Aw, I appreciate your words! I love the Shadowrun setting, it's sci-fi but very connected to present concerns.

@hi3r0ph4nt: Glad you found the solution!

@Diamond Encrusted Toaster: Hey, thanks! This was my first time writing a romance, and I'm really glad that you enjoyed it.
cirion  [author] Jan 9, 2023 @ 11:52am
Howdy! I just realized that it's been a while since I checked in on this campaign, and I'm delighted to see that over 30,000 players have subscribed! That's more than a lot of stand-alone video games. Thanks to everyone for your interest and support over the years!

@bertpeal: I'm glad you liked the story, it was fun to write!

@mikusama: Congrats on finishing the campaign! I'm not working on anything at the moment, but I'll let folks know if and when I have something to announce.

@Xray: Haha, it's always nice to meet a fan of Pepsi!

@DarkSpiral: I wasn't sure if anyone would be interested in the dev commentary, so I'm glad to hear that you found it interesting! And yeah, I learned a ton while working on these campaigns. Maps were always the hardest thing for me, but I found better ways to cope over time.

@Rockanhe: Might I interest you in a shot of Memory-B-Gone, the latest wetware skillsoft from our friends at Shiawase Biotech?
spaceninja80 Dec 25, 2022 @ 5:22pm
This is a full-scale, professional grade expansion. It's like a whole new installment in the series. More than I expected the engine to be capable of modding, tbh. Thanks for your fandom.

And Merry Christmas.
Tapsa981 Nov 7, 2022 @ 2:06am
Awesome work. There was little weirdness going on on the disco dance floor but otherwise ok. :bowmeow:
Dead Owl Sep 3, 2022 @ 1:04am
I remember trying the first of this three part when it came out and the story and scenarios were so disjointed and poorly narrated... Stopped playing it halfway through. Here I am a few years later and decided why not just try part two, and wow... This feels like it could've been the actual game and I would've been 100% happy with my purchase.

The characters, the narrative, the everything, fucking phenomenal, and even from one playthrough I can tell the story could have easily diverged into a few different branches based on choices, and that is even more terrifying in that this even has replay value.

Y'all did a beyond amazing job.
Diamond Encrusted Toaster Aug 30, 2022 @ 4:41pm
Absolutely impressive mod. I am so incredibly satisfied with it, just finished this story line. You even added ROMANCE as an option which came by as a surprise to me!! The storytelling was so in depth and laid out really nicely. Thank you so much for such a fantastic adventure, I feel like this may be better than the base game for Hong Kong imo.
hi3r0ph4nt Aug 24, 2022 @ 4:28am

Artran Aug 1, 2022 @ 8:51pm
So I completely missed the romance line of the story just because the one decision in a dialogue with Rafik!? That's a bummer :-/ Try to save Persi would definitely be more emotional than save Rafik. Oh, well...
Lan Jun 12, 2022 @ 11:57am
Amazing mod. It feels like an official extension/story.

I liked the references here and there, the intrigue...

Also these arc catches well shadowrun spirit (itself derived from science fiction questionnings and worries comming with modernities and progress regarding society, weaponry ... Plus cool action scenes). And ocassions to do RP.

So rich with a lot of ideas... Also liked your writting style (both narrative and characters (except Claude one maybe, and in the team i didn't like Sand much but he's well written noneless). But it's no complain. Everything was amazing.

You even took care to not show full branch of progression to not spoil the "it's not finished yet + betrayal in the second third of the story. Nice touch.

And i really felt my runner going in a rushed vendetta to save (or avenge) Perci

Time for me to test Calfree now. Thanks for your great job. I hope you get recognition, you deserve it.
Rockanhe May 17, 2022 @ 7:38pm
Enjoy every moment of it, sadly you only get to experience it for the first time once!
teh_wamburger May 17, 2022 @ 12:52pm
Breezed through this after smashing through the Dragonfall campaign by the same author. It's really good. This is also really, really good. Onwards, to CalFree in Chains!
Taliensin Apr 25, 2022 @ 4:33pm
just finished this fantastic piece of work and wanted to thank you for the experience
Gareque Apr 15, 2022 @ 2:25pm
Fantastic story, felt like a completely different game made by HBS themselves.

Good writing, interesting characters and pretty damn meaty!
Rockanhe Feb 11, 2022 @ 4:16am
Ah, if only i could erase the memories and experience them all anew.
There's nothing made by fans like this campaign wise.
DarkSpiral Feb 10, 2022 @ 7:49pm
Hey Cirion! I've just finished up with you excellent Caper UGC, and had to drop a comment about it.

This was as much, if not more, fun than some of the official campaigns. I absolutely loved your dev comments, too. It was fascinating not just to see how your skills at level design and writing evolved between the beginning of Antumbra and this UGC, and even moreso to actually have your personal thoughts on the matter.

Cheers! I'm off to CalFree in Chains!
Smoke Fumus Jan 6, 2022 @ 4:52pm
This is decent. Compared to the absolute trainwreck that is antumbra saga - writing is decent. Same with level design, though there is a fair few places too narrow.
Fortune Nov 12, 2021 @ 8:09am
This UGC is better than the game itself. Stay calm and make love to Pirse... a lot.
mikusama Oct 15, 2021 @ 12:17pm
Hello cirion , thank you for your work. I just finished reading the epilogue, the story was really, really cool. Are you working on something new ?
bertpeal Oct 11, 2021 @ 8:56pm
@bertpeal: I see you are a man of wealth and taste! Dang, that's an amazing marathon run through the campaign, way to go chummer! :snaggletooth:

It was pretty hard for a man of my age and health irl, but it was so good a story, I couldn't bring myself to stop....lol
Granted, I didn't see absolutely everything you put in but I did see most of it and the attention to detail was absolutely incredible. Dare I say, it was an even better story than he original 3 story arcs from the official games.Keep up the great work with your team, and I promise as long as I am alive and high kicking, I will be waiting with intense anticipation for release date.
cirion  [author] Oct 11, 2021 @ 3:56pm
@Starbuck and @Rockanhe: Thanks for your helpful tips and strategy notes!

@TW-Luna: Great to see you again! I'm glad you felt so strongly motivated in that scene. There's no one "right way" to do this, and that's a very powerful statement from your character!

@Obama Sin Laden: Woot, glad you dug your run! I had a great time writing these companions, it's good to hear you enjoyed meeting them. It was my first time writing a romance, and it's a relief to see folks like you enjoying it. Cheers!

@종이 잭: Thank you for playing and for the kind words, congratulations on completing the trilogy!

@bertpeal: I see you are a man of wealth and taste! Dang, that's an amazing marathon run through the campaign, way to go chummer! :snaggletooth:

Hello, hello! We're rapidly approaching the six year anniversary of The Caldecott Caper's release! That seems like an eternity ago, and also like it was only yesterday. I feel humbled and grateful for everyone's support over the years, and excited that new players are continuing to find this campaign. Thanks to everyone for spreading the word!

@The Hogfather: Dorbi is definitely a survivor!

@Batcat: I'm glad you enjoyed it, and am pleased that it compared well with the official campaign!

@miskers: Oh man, I learned so much from making Antumbra Saga, you're definitely seeing the improvements here. It's wild that you played these before the official campaign, you have a lot to look forward to!

@tcpipnut: I love reading books, thanks for your kind words!

@Entaris: Thanks for the note! Unfortunately the item duplication bug is an engine problem that I can't work around in the mod, hopefully it isn't too annoying.
bertpeal Oct 4, 2021 @ 2:24am
Absolutely fecking brilliant is an understatement of the highest magnitude. In the words of Mick Jagger, If you start me up, I'll never stop. I played this mod straight through from start to finish in one sitting almost 24 straight hours and Im still jazzed. Great friggin job guys.:steamhappy:

Excellent content, today I finished all mods from the author Cirion and have only words of praise. Thank you for enriching the awesome world of Shadowrun with your stories!
Wielebny Jim Jones Aug 27, 2021 @ 10:13pm
Absolutely brilliant, 10/10. The beginning is a bit sluggish, but the heist and its aftermath are some of the best damn Shadowrun content I've seen. The companions were excellently written, romancing was a blast (especially since I played as a highly meaty human rigger, the flirting with Perci had me lovingly cringing). The mod is I would say the most Shadowrun-feeling of Shadowrun computer games I've played.

If CalFree in Chains and the Antumbra Saga are as good as this (haven't played them yet), I'll be bloody well impressed.
OwenVSH Jul 1, 2021 @ 12:44pm
If you are the kind of gamer that enjoys doing the same mission set over and over until you get just the way the GM intended this is the game for you.
Not so much for me though.
TW-Luna Jun 13, 2021 @ 10:44pm
Been replaying through the whole series again recently and it continues to be just.. such a joy, with such great set pieces, writing, and characters. One of your Dev Comments got me thinking, I'm sure it would have been really awesome to get some proper player metrics, what paths and choices were picked by people. Rereading the 'Boss Room' I am one of those players who just can't go into that final fight and not pull out the guns right away. I know how you put all that work into so many different outcomes for the finale, but after what they tried to do to Perci... "Hallo.. my name is Inigo Montoya. You tried to kill Percy. Prepare to die."
Entaris Jun 12, 2021 @ 6:47pm
Hey OP, I don't know if you're still lurking this page, but if Ravik is "Downed" when combat ends into a cinematic, you end up gaining a duplicate of all of his gear in your Stash.
Entaris Jun 9, 2021 @ 7:01am
Thanks for the pro tips
Starbuck Jun 9, 2021 @ 12:27am
@Enteris

that's also what I do
she's got serious firepower

you need to use walls to try to force your enemies to spend their AP running towards you, and pick them one by one
the real difficulty starts underground :
you have limited cover against the 1st group, but Rafik spells are very useful and you should bait the dwarfs come at you (shoot at them or aim at an explosive barrel
next, you can avoid the extra nuyen if you don't want to fight the critters.
but you can use the middle wall section to make them run, or better summon the eart elemental to strike hard and be used to soak up damage
Starbuck Jun 9, 2021 @ 12:27am
@Enteris

the 2nd dwarf group can be picked up by using walls and the water elemental to heal/buff you.
be careful when you meet Dorbu, you MC will likely by in the open and will receive a barrage of fire at the start of the battle, then hunker down and use Dorbi magical powers from a major leyline
to neutralize the enemy sniper, simply have a member of your team run towards it (while in cover), to force it to reposition
