I had a theory that Ark takes place on THE Ark from the Halo Universe. All of the Forerunner artifacts had natural land formations because of the Librarian... What if one of those formations was cordoned off and an experiment took place putting creatures from different time periods in Earth's history in the same location to see what would happen? What if the reason the only creature on the entire island with implants was because the Forerunners were studying their old enemies for signs of weakness?
Makes total sense!
