alright, the bandits didn't spawn. i "fixed" the problem by getting out, coming back in, activating the thing again and then finally getting out one more time

Thanks for the feedback! The reward you get for the quest is actually much better than it was in an earlier version, but you might be right. It's hard to balance new items against the rest of the game, considering I didn't want to give the player something that would make the rest of the game a breeze. I tried setting the balance of the quest for completion around level 12-15, so it would take place fairly early in the overall campaign.

I had hoped to have an artist friend of mine create a custom model for the weapon, which would have made up for the rather lackluster stats to at least give you something that looked really cool, but with all of us busy working on our thesis papers at the time, it was a hard sell. Thanks for playing either way!

I can't be sure but I think if you are using the same save game as before then it will not allow you to do the quest over again. I suspect this is because the system is using the same name in the background to handle all of the quest stages and what not.

After going through the quest in thesis mode, I got the updated version but it did not change at all, I finished the quest before the final mode came out, and I was not able to recieve the sword. Please help.

Thanks for the input! I have rearranged the description so that the information about the quest comes before the "About the Author" section to make it more convenient for people browsing the workshop.

wow man i only say this on the workshop and moused over to see what it was and instead of a description of the mod first i just got your life story, so thanks for that, i only came in here to comment because ive decided that i dont really care what in fact the mod is i just decided to return the favour, so ive got over 9000 years of gaming under my belt and if you dont belive me i have unlimited girlfiriends to back me up. Ive been working on something special and i call it project life story. im actually working on it at the same time as typing this crazy huh?

but anyway, the real story is Hello! I am Derek Holson, a Level Designer currently working in the gaming industry. I am an experienced video gamer with over 15 years of gaming under my belt. My favorite genres are role-playing games and shooters.

There is a console command to get in there, but I'd have to look up the area name when I get home because I don't remember it. I think that this will break the quest however because the quest advances when you open the door. I'm not sure why you are crashing when you transition since I've never seen that happen on my personal machine.

Once you have finished the quest, the house just sits there with no other use so if you wanted to use it for your own then I don't see any problems with that.

This was done for one of my final classes that we called DFS which is a Directed Focus Study. It's basically an open design class where we submit a design to our professor who then approves and provides guidance and input for the class. This particular DFS lasted over two eight week periods.

I really liked this, but I had the Old Mansion Mod installed, the one where there's a replica of a resident evil thingy, ya know, and it did have interference problems. The entry to one of the places you had to go was in the middle of the mansion. But, it's all good. Just noclipped and went right along.

Not at all, I think the quest is great and I fully understand the difficulties in trying to account for all the various gameplay possibilities. I would like to recommend starting a discussion thread listing the quest ID and various quest stages and critical item id codes so that anyone else who manages to break it somewhere along the line could 'fix' the problem and continue on.
Since it would be a discussion thread (and currently would be the ONLY one), and not a comments post, spoilers would not be much of an issue.

Thanks for the heads up Terror, I hope that this didn't negatively color your opinion of the quest overall. When playtesting, I used a variety of different characters to try and maximize the numer of playstyles that the quest would suit but it's really hard to account for everything.

I managed to break this a couple of different ways.
Minor spoilers ahead....

Since this is really 2 quests that run side-by-side, it's easy to break the College quest by continuing on with the main Broken Blade portion w/o doing everything you can at the College first. The College part of the quest will eventually send you to collect something that you cannot collect, because Grohiik is no longer available.

In the final battle with Grohiik, I broke the main quest somehow by killing Grohiik via stealth poisoning him. He blabbed his lines to start the fight, but then since he couldn't see me right away (I was both sneaking and invis when he went into his speech) he wandered over to the side of the room and just stood there while I reverse-pickpocketed some really strong poison into his inventory. The goal to 'defeat Grohiik' never updated.

i like the mod, but i have to unsubscribe. it makes it so that every once in a while actions are disabled. i can't talk, activate, or anything.

Without spoiling anything, there is a certain part where you get a quest to "search the bodies". However, if you've already searched the bodies before the quest marker appears then it refuses to go away for the rest of the quest.

Lol, just poking a bit of fun at you're age - I actually am thurously enjoying you're quest. Definitely no bugs I've noticed so far, and the voice acting isn't nearly as bad as it could have been. I wish it wasn't so short though :( - but I guess at the same time, that comment alone is a big completement to your mod. Exellent work.

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, the VO is not professionally done but I didn't want to pay for anything since this was a school project.

The immersive exploration you mentioned was done at one point as my thesis project, but after going through a lot of testing I realized that a lot of players got frustrated even though they felt immersed. I did a lot of work to that end, and I wanted to find a middle ground so I tried to make a compromise.

First, thanks for bringing us the mod. I'd like to try to offer some feedback without spoiling anything.

Locations seemed to be well-constructed. I had no issues with them at all--well, except a follower getting stuck, which can happen in the vanilla game as well.

Voices weren't what I would call immersive--different echo, and of course, no Nord accents, but all that is understandable.

What quest markers were used were a little buggy for me -- they didn't go away when I progressed to the next quest phase.

Wish you had either stuck with your guns (immersive exploration) or stuck with vanilla markers. The third option used at one point just didn't fit either the game or your goal, I felt. Same yellow brick road, different bricks.

If you are stuck on the riddle, all you need to do is wait a little while in game and it will update. You can use the in game wait feature to wait a few hours.

At certain points during the quest, I did not include quest markers to try and immerse the player into the game a bit more. When you talked with Thorolf he gave you a map that you can use to find Nightgate Inn.
