Thanks. Indeed it was this character. I guess it doesn't necessarily represent a fortified prefecture then, but simply a significant fortification which may have no administrative use ?

I am really glad that the sources help! I belive you are refering to 卫 (pinyin: wei). The character denotes a military settlement of some sort. Tianjin wei was established in Ming dynasty.

PS: If I wasn't clear, I was referring to the character representing Tianjin prefecture (or nearby) under the Ming (1582 and 1433 maps)

i have been able to add many historical prefectures of the ming and qing dynasties thanks to your sources. However, there is one character (some kind of an underscored P) , found mostly on the northeastern coast (Heibei and Shandong) as well as along the (15th century) border with Mongolia (probably corresponding to the 9 Garrisons) which I can't find any signification for in modern chinese characters. Would you mind helping me figuring out what it means (sub-prefecture, fortress...?). Thanks

Where did you get the original map ? I was really looking into expanding the Ming map on my Typus Orbis Terrarum mod, but I can't find a single map showing anything beyond Province level... except modern day prefectures

@Bigjohn93 some province's base tax are lowered but overall the tax base is higher than original due to large number of provinces added

Does this Mod make Ming too much stronger than Oirat and Manchu?

1.你没改城市坐标
2.有些省份太小或太大，看起来不平衡
3.辽东你没改（我改了，按照名后期边界，分的省，这样一来选后期的时候，就和中国历史地图集地图上的边界是一样的感觉）
4.北京分成三份儿，明成祖设的天津卫也应该算上，这样也形成了明历史上的沿海长城---沿海卫所。
5.宁夏区域部分和中国历史地图集的边界有偏差，我改了，因为EU4的地图是1444年的边界，后期蒙古又侵入了一点儿，所以我加了一个小省。
6.我要做的的省份地图比较平均。而且除了明其他区域的省份也要添加，包括北亚不毛地，蒙古，满洲，叶儿羌，察合台，西伯利亚，青藏，日本（一省）
7. 河套地区分为历史上的东西两套。
