I like it but.. textures and lights.
Lights : red warning lights on side running to top, with two or three additional on top-surface. Not too many; subtle as possible. I'd say start from 3/4 up so aeroplanes can see and avoid.

@Nevermore2790: The Citedel doesnt really have any lights on it in HL2, but I guess maybe I could add some. I'm not really sure what is involved in updating mods for After Dark but I will look into it!

I did experiment with having an open pit, which the engine does support, but for some reason it draws anything below ground level with a weird white shader that makes it look bad...

I was planning on making a whole range of City 17 style things, but the modding tools are frustratingly simplified XD

I suppose I could release an Episode 1 version as well if there is demand.

Any possibilities to have those Combine Mobile Walls for Citadel's protection and a "pit" (because the Citadel is in that giant hole)? Loving it anyway :), but I kinda like it better if it with textures from Episode One or the one made by CzechDeath (Red's HD Citadel).

No, I set the scale in 3dsmax; the asset editor is broken at the moment and any scale or rotation changes there will break the UV mapping on the LOD model.

Did you scale it up via the Asset Editor? I tried to make something this tall, but I got stuck in the AE's preview window so my model is half as high compared to yours.

Originally I made it 2.5Km tall, but it wasnt rendering properly so I scaled it down a bit until it did, maybe 1.7Km tall now?

yeah I got another Citadel mod, and was quite disappointed with its size. Having played half life, it's not exactly a small building as you're obviously aware :P

The actual base that you have to connect to a road is like 12x12 or whatever the maximum size is, but obviously the mesh sticks way outside that area.

on google images, just compared the width of the citadel to the one right next to the dubaï tower and got an approximate 30x30 size. The problem is, I think it wasn't real size and someone remade a version of it which is real size so the citadel would have to be around 35x35-33x33 size! as you can see, the version you just posted would not even be half the height :( anyway, good luck and can't see what you will add :D

Yeah adding some more City 17 buildings is on my to-do list. It would be cool to have a whole mod but the mod tools are still very basic, a bit buggy and poorly documented.

I tried importing the cables as a prop, but that bit of the asset editor seems broken and I never got it into the game to see how it behaves.

I wondered where you got the 30x30 number from, the game doesnt support buildings that big.

maybe if you made it as a intersection asset it could work since making it 30x30 squares would fit in that! Btw if you are wondering why I said 30x30 squares its because I went online and I found the model you used for this (if I am correct :P ) and compared the model with an existing building which was real size so I managed to find the aprox size if the citadel. hold on, I just had an idea! What if you turned it into a prop! It would be a massive prop but I mean, it probably would work :D

For this version, the LOD model is actually the same, but the game always makes its own low-res texture.

Unfortunately I had to remove the cables because they cuased the engine to get very confused when building roads nearby. Havent given up on them, but need to find a way to get them working .

You could just make the LoD the same model since it would be massive! I tried to make the citadel real size but blender is just not cooperating right now :( Maybe you could make an actual real size with the cables because even with the render distance issues, city 17 is pretty small :)
