No python script needed. The catalogs in the data folder are not not locked, so you can safely go into data>catalogs>catalogs.pak and look for SolarSys.sc and make a copy, and modify it to your heart's desires

If you load the Sol system in Stellaris with that mod, the mod will give Jupiter a "helioforming candidate" tag to the planet, indicating you can use the substellar compressor to compress it into a mini-star.

Not at all. It was inspired by the "substellar compressor" mega-structure in the "Gigastructures and more" mod for the game Stellaris.

Only if you change names of a parent object, or replace it with a modified clone (like jupiter). The catalogs in the data folder are not locked, so you can safely copypasta the necessary bodies.

Just a question, but when modding the Solar System, do you have to add back every single object including minor bodies?
