Thank you for sharing this bug! I forgot something and tried it just for a short time with an already created savefile, but now it should be fixed.
plus, is it supposed to fire at the same time as the alien biosphere event?
Nice! I just tried some things, it's great it worked.
It would be helpful to have a list. Does your game crash right after you load or create a game, or does this happen later?
I just published an update in which I implemented some ideas to make it more compatible with other large mods. Please try using it with your modpack again!
The idea with the dying Hometree is nice, but, as with the other ideas, it would take a lot of time to bring it to life (if I do it). I'm not currently working that actively on my mod like I was before the upload, so don't expect new origins in a few days, especially since the "Immersive" Origin isn't finished yet.
Creating something based on an origin is quite simple, but I've never modified a base-game file to ensure it doesn't conflict with other mods. I'll take a look, but I currently don't know if I'll do it.
I have some ideas that I want to try, but please test if you can play this origin with no other mods enabled. Also, is the game crashing right after creating a new game or does it happen later?
Doomsday tree of life: Basically the doomsdays mechanic, but with the added challenge of trying to save the great tree of life with a special situation mechanic of you doing the transplantation, those being faster but with added risk of the tree being crippled; balanced and no bonuses; slow and careful a small habitability and production bonus
In the vanilla game, there's an anomaly event called "the tree" which gives you a situation about using the tree sap for pop happiness or extra leader lifespan, or 250 influence.
I'm not sure if you can get options based on origins, but if it's possible. I would suggest to add a fourth option if using the IToL, about bringing this tree to the home planet and get it as a planetary feature with a bonus.
This second one, is just adding a small 5% habitability bonus to the Tree network tech, as a small nod to the fact that it's about making the tree more adaptable to alien biospheres
Wilderness of Life or something
I like the ideas. Right now, I'm making great progress with my "Immersive Tree of Life - Origin," but it will take time to finish. I won't add those ideas to this version, but there's always room for more ;).
However, I would have to play the wilderness origin first, so it would take considerable time to create additional versions properly. (Also, I'm not sure if the Tree of Life is appropriate for machine species, but maybe I wouldn't restrict them ether. No fix plans right now.)
Thank you for your ideas! I will definitely consider them, especially the base concept with the sapling start.
Tree of life sapling start, basically similar to your alternative origin, but instead of a fully grow life tree, you start with a sapling arrived on the planet a few years ago, with a series of events about adapting to the tree, and this one could be made compatible with machine empires, and have them become machine gardeners or something like that
The second one, Wilderness Tree of Life, mostly straight forward, of combining the two origins mechanics, and maybe a change of the lore to have the tree be the mind, instead of the planet
