This Mod adds:

"Alternative Tree of Life" - Origin:
- It's basically the same as the original, just for non-hive minds.
- The original origin remains unchanged.

"Immersive Tree of Life" - Origin: (EXPERIMENTAL)
- This version of the Origin is similar to the alternative version, but it offers more gameplay with the Tree of Life.
- It's now possible to add better protection for the Lifetree and its offspring. But trust me, you really don't want to lose your Hometree with this version!
- New Building, new Technology, new Decision, new Modifiers for Planets!
- New Events (currently 3: two small and a bigger one; there will be more in the future!), bringing new life to the Tree of Life - Concept!

Description:

I was always annoyed by the fact that the 'Tree of Life' - Origin was only available to hive minds. After failing to find a mod for it in the Workshop, I decided to give it a shot and created my own version, which is independent of the original. This means that the original Origin can still be used. You no longer need to rewrite the base game files after every update like I did!

This mod adds an "Alternative 'Tree of Life'-Origin" to the game, enabling you to play with non-hive mind empires. I have sometimes changed the names a bit, but nothing is completely different to how it used to be. All texts containing "hive" or "hive mind" have been rewritten so that they don't seem strange when used with a non-hive mind empire.

The new "Immersive Tree of Life" with deeper gameplay is now playable. However, be aware that it is still experimental and will probably have some issues in its current state. Try it out and let me know what you think so I can improve it!

(Originally I created this mod for my friends and myself, but then I decided to make it available to anyone who might be interested as well. This is my first mod, so please don't expect something professional.

Please note that all core functions are working as they should, but there are some visual issues that I haven't been able to resolve yet. This means that you won't see all the holding's effects directly; you will only see them after hovering with the mouse over the holding. I will perhaps look into it in the future, but for now it's definitely playable without any problems!


Plans for the future:

I'm currently working on an alternative version of the origin story that will offer deeper gameplay with the Tree of Life. Some of the ideas I'm considering have already been implemented in the new Origin, but I will probably add more content in the future.

(Due to some personal matters, I won't be able to release any updates to this mod for the following days. If something is completely broken, please wait for my next update. There are so many other fantastic mods to play!)

Here are some ideas that I have collected that I might do in the future (maybe, really!):
- "Tree of Life" and "Wilderness" - Combination (If I do this, it will take a very long time!)
- Start empire with an offspring of a Great Tree from another world (maybe, if I have the time and am in the mood)

(I'm still open for more ideas, but don't expect that I will definitely realize them!)


Compatibility:

I have almost completely recreated the original with its own files, without touching the vanilla ones, which should make it compatible with almost all mods. I tested this mod with one of my own modpacks (currently containing 50 mods, the "UI Overhaul Dynamic" - Mod included) and it worked without any problems, except that edits to the original "Tree of Life" by other mods are of course not working. For example, the "Planetary Diversity" - Mod: The planetary decision 'Transplant Tree of Life sapling' won't take longer to finish on special planets.

If you find an incompatible mod, please let me know so that I can either fix it or document the issue here.

@Ragnar_Moortus Well, I made it with AI, but I don't know if it looks like the Tree of Aeons novel. I never heard about it until now.

I found a bug in the planet buildings screen, there are three buildings named destroy_trigger, planet_modifier, and } all with no effects, at least on the Capital Planet, and it's caused only by this mod alone (I tested to make sure it wasn't compatibility issue with other mods)

I like the ideas. Right now, I'm making great progress with my "Immersive Tree of Life - Origin," but it will take time to finish. I won't add those ideas to this version, but there's always room for more ;).
However, I would have to play the wilderness origin first, so it would take considerable time to create additional versions properly. (Also, I'm not sure if the Tree of Life is appropriate for machine species, but maybe I wouldn't restrict them ether. No fix plans right now.)

Thank you for your ideas! I will definitely consider them, especially the base concept with the sapling start.

Here's two ideas:

Tree of life sapling start, basically similar to your alternative origin, but instead of a fully grow life tree, you start with a sapling arrived on the planet a few years ago, with a series of events about adapting to the tree, and this one could be made compatible with machine empires, and have them become machine gardeners or something like that

The second one, Wilderness Tree of Life, mostly straight forward, of combining the two origins mechanics, and maybe a change of the lore to have the tree be the mind, instead of the planet

@Melkorian Your welcome! I wasn't actually sure if I should make this mod available to everyone, I originally created it for my friends and me, but it was worth it if other people enjoy it too :)
