in the technical side why does the hammer cause lag in vanilla? like in what part does it generate well latency for the physics calculations and etc?

it's only present in survival/survival-like custom games. Also some people don't experience the issue, so if you don't: lucky you!

i dont think there is a problem with hammer (for me there is no problem with "hammer lag")

Are you talking about lag when switching to the hammer? Cus whenever you remove blocks/resources with a tool out it slowly makes it more laggy to equip that tool. Easy fix is simply reloading the world but if it's not that then I'm not sure what this is supposed to be fixing

the issue is caused by the code of the sledgehammer itself, nothing that doesn't directly touch that can fix it

@FancyDuck simply move the save file from the "survival" folder inside "saves" to "saves"
the save file will then appear in the creative menu, even though it's still survival
there you can add mods

The default sledgehammer does lag for a part of the community, in survival. It creates a LOT of tables when u equip it that's why it lags, especially when u quickly switch between the sledgehammer and other items. For some reason it only does for some people.

@FancyDuck you can move your save file from the "saves/survival" folder into the "saves" folder, then it will appear in the creative section, and you can add mods there
(not sure if moving it back to the "survival" folder afterwards keeps the mod enabled)

@RedMissile the game begins to lag every time you re-equip the hammer after doing so many times in the same session (the amount varies depending on how good your pc is)
This is because the hammer adds its renderables every time you equip it, but never removes them.
