Genuinely had me scared, was playing this at 4am and i was on very little sleep and a few beers, and all i gotta say playing as a marine really does completely change the entire vibe and makes the flood Incredibly Scary! a single flood spore can and will rip you to shreds, combat forms who hit you not only knock you back but it stuns you in a way too, it goes from Halo FPS to genuine halo horror and it felt like 2001 again, If you ever take this concept and make your own halo horror style campaign story I'd love to offer my voice to the project if you ever need voice talent :D

ps the filter makes it so much better, incredibly immersive

Not the first FP marine mod actually. I remember one I think called "Escape" which uses the same fp arm set as me and likely the same biped from echo482. And echo says the fp arms arent his and from the custom edition days.

They are exceedingly rare though and this was probably one of the few successful ones.

People are getting sick of third person marine mods but oftentimes its a necessity, as good FP arms/legs might not exist for a given game. Halo CE and 3 are the only ones with decent fp arm tags made for them. Reach has none, 2 has one also by echo but Im not a fan. Idgaf about 4 and beyond. And ODST obviously comes prebuilt with ODST arms, but those arent designed for base 2007 H3 ai odsts.

Overall, apart from a few irritating things about this mod, this mod IS well done, and I hope to see more from the author in the future.

I feel like having the filter be removed after exiting the "starting" room where everyone dies to emphasize that this isn't just a stupid recording anymore, but Private Jenkins' fight for survival (and brought back again near the end of the level when 343 GS picks you up again, to remind you that this IS, in fact, a recording), and having spores latch onto you and draw SOME health away from you but then de-attach themselves to give the player a fighting chance, would make this mod infinitely better than it already is.

However, aside from those two things, despite the fact that the mod seems very lacking at times (since this quite literally is just 343 GS except you get to skip the first parts; I was disappointed to find out that we wouldn't fight until Foehammer picked all of us up), I was actually amazed and relieved to see Covenant forces outside NOT target Jenkins and the Marine Survivors, which is something I've yet to see be done before.

Honestly, apart from a few things that really make this mod harder than it needs to be? This mod is actually the first FP marine mod to ever come out for Halo: CE. That's very good, actually.

The camera makes visibility very, VERY hard, to the point where if you don't know where you're going or what to shoot at, you're gonna have a hard and unfun time with this mod.
What ALSO makes this mod unfun is the fact that once a flood spore (y'know... the smallest, yet most plentiful and clustered enemies in the game? With an EMPHASIS on that in this modpack as well? Your LITERAL main enemy this level?) latches onto you? You might as well re-do your checkpoint; there's no getting out of that one.

Overall, these two things paired together makes this mod go from a very well-crafted and fun show of the Halo community's ingenuity, TO a very well-crafted, frustrating, irritatingly difficult and challenging show of the Halo community's ingenuity.

You know whats fun? playing as the marines in the mission when we first see the flood.
you know whats not fun? standing around when a single flood form attaches you and you're forced to wait till you die because there is no mechanic to get them off you. gauanteed death that ruins the fun of this mod.

I think what makes this mod so incredible compared to other marine mods is that its not just a different biped with the same gameplay, but there are few and far between moments where this kind of game would really work. Other things coming to mind would be Halo 2 through the quarantine zone or Halo 3 in Voi after it gets hit by the Flood ship.

Anything more, playing as a marine in first person, wouldnt be exactly like this. I'm focusing on different projects, and I'm also apart of the combat eclipsed team now so thats a focus too.

If you are sensitive to the helmet camera filter, then do not play this mod or only play the bonus level.

Also good point on the bonus level infections. I can update that soon as that'd be very easy to change.

This mod is great, I just wish that on the bonus level the flood forms would de-latch as an infection form being instant death adds tension to the first level but on the bonus level it just ends up being more frustrating than anything after a while.

The main level is great and I went for both endings on Legendary. Over all a very good mod and an awesome idea.

I actually quite liked this one! I thought ending where you retreat back up the original elevator to be the better one and more apt for a marine. Also fucking awesome to be able to save multiple marines along the way by clearing a route to the pelican. Escaping with a fully loaded pelican feels gooooood. Screen stuff is annoying tbh but it's not so much an eye strain as it is an eye sore. I find myself squinting to be able to see anything farther than 15-20 ft away from me and the visual is annoying. But scripting, and overall game play is a lot of fun. I was never able to save a marine or anyone from the beginning which made me sad. Tried a bunch and although I was able to get farther in the dialogue and keep them alive longer than usual, the multiple waves of infection forms from above kills the runs every time. Bit of a gimmick to do that more than once I think.

While I really like this a lot, I think you should've disabled the camera effect by the time action starts because it becomes hard to see and it really hurts my eyes playing it like this, Or at least is faded to where the player can actually see whats going on is my gripe with it.

I really like the idea of infection forms being dangerous to the player, where when one grabs you its game set and match for you. (I wonder what would've happened if Bungie did this or there was a skull when you have shields burned out while as Chief.)

More Covenant enemy enounters would've been nice, especially maybe at the start where we have a small battle before entering the facility or even inside the facility before the flood encounter would've been cool.

Overall with the feedback and minor gripes, I really enjoyed this what if.
