Ok, I've pretty much figured this guy out.
I've been fighting him non-stop on Hard.
He only does 2 counter frequently. It is Grab and Burst. That's pretty much it.

Guaranteed to always happen:
-Will always grab at close range
-if you are in close range during a combo and Burst gauge is full, it will always instantly burst

The Hard option is barely hard at all, it just takes a lot of time for it to decide what to do and I could basically scroll through twitter while he decides what to do. And it still loses.

Improvement to its decision making is my suggestion. And hopefully we could also make it choose a modded character. Randomly or Manually. I'm kinda bored fighting the same guy already.

Easy to beat my ass, all it does is block and spam grab. No fun, in my opinion at least.

Regarding the problem with the character becoming "null", try checking the integrity of the files in the properties menu, then uninstall and install again, in MY case it worked and it returned to normal.

But I need to say that sometimes I need to uninstall it several times for it to work.

And, as the author said, you can try deleting character cache.

Please, for the love of god, do ANYTHING other than run up and throw. If you're not mid combo you better be inputting throw so you can tech. Otherwise its death by 1000 cuts.

the null thing isnt happening for me but as soon as i pick my move and then lock in the game just crashes :sob:

"easy to beat" try putting the damage to 0.3 to make the fight longer and it will learn IT WILL LEARN BRO IT BECOMES SO HARD

I have played against the goon bot some and it really likes grabbing for some odd reason

keeps turning into null

also nerf his dashes

make it calculate all possibilities and probabilities of said possibilities

I don't know if this is just a me issue. But just today, this mod has been softlocking me when trying to start a singleplayer match. I went through all my mods to check and this is the only one that causes this issue

When I load a match with Goon, the only part of the level that is visible is a small circle in the middle of the screen where you can see some background and floor. no characters spawn and I can't pause to select Quit.

it's a great mod, but it'd be awesome if there were any way to have it think slower, but have the game still working while it's thinking. that way while the player is thinking the bot can do its job and as soon as the player locks-in the bot is probably gonna be ready

yeah the null error has been happening to a lot of characters recently, might be a new update?
try deleting your character cashe in settings, it worked for me but honestly idk what it does

It’s not working. I played it perfectly fine yesterday but now, when I select the character for either player, it switches from “goon” to “Null” with no picture, and if I hit go, it just keeps the main menu overlay with the level behind it and doesn’t respond to anything. I had to Alt+F4 outta the game to stop it

One funny thing to note is that people mostly talk about Goon's Throw loop, wich you can cancel with D.I, bursting, jumping, grabbing too. Either that or i'm just the luckiest piece of rubber duck in the universe

i learnt that you can avoid his not gonna sugarcoat it combos (uppercut x5000 and throw + dash + dash + throw xINF) by just putting your DI up :/

ok so, i was fighting the AI with disgraced chef and when i tried to save the replay and watch it, the game simply crashes outta nowhere. I don't know if this is something related to this mod, or my game is just bugged, can you answer it for me?

how about u make it so IT DOESN'T CONSTANTLY THROW.

ive fought this as of today and it certainly doesnt just throw. what it will do is stunlock you though because each hit only slightly bounces you up

Crazy_Buckets443: You need to have the Mod Options mod installed. From there, a button called "Mod Options" appears at the bottom of the title screen. Click that, and you should see "Goon Options" in the menu that appears. Click that, click the dropdown menu from there, then pick your difficulty from there.

i get the same issue as @zyler319, but only when i have style editor+ installed, which kinda sucks. the game just ctd's a second after i lock in the turn for some reason? the character i choose never matters, only style editor+ being active in the modlist. is this just a weird issue on my machine, or can anyone repro?

How do I turn on hard mode?

zyler319: That is odd - I don't get a crash when playing against Machine. That said, I have noticed that the decision time against Machine is much greater than any other character, probably due to its complexity.

If the game claims it isn't responding, wait the freeze out without touching anything and it should be fine, but a crash suggests another issue.
Is the problem only against Machine? If so, it might be a memory problem I'll have to take a look into for the General AI. Otherwise, check if you have the "Sticky DI Fixer" mod installed; it's incompatible with this one.

so, my game keeps crashing, and im not sure if its goon mod or the machine mod, but everytime i play with goon and machine, i pick a move, and then click space to lock in the moves, and the game freezes, then crashes.
