If it's balanced, you could just make both available to everyone, and let the AI decide based on what it needs more. That handles weird outliers like Radiotropic plantoids with a Subsidiary that gives them too much food.

That is an excellent suggestion, I'll get to work on it. I'll need to dig through some files to find the right logic to check for a lithoid or machine primary species.

Would you be interesting in making a trade policy for Lithoids & individual machines which does not have any food in it?

As an alternative for those empires where it's appropriate.

updated to incorporate the changes to mutual aid in the most recent patch, which was not nearly enough of a buff to make the policy worthwhile in vanilla, as it was a mere +.1 unity for -.1 energy.

Nice mod, you might want to overwrite only the specialist jobs you altered instead of the entire file to avoid compatibility issues.
