right on!
Dr. Knevin  [author] Dec 17 @ 1:16pm
Sorry for the late replies everyone! I am on vacation.

@Que.tea - Depends on what kind of bonuses you mean. Opinion bonus?

@Squidian The BoFish - Nope, but will probably make a compatibility patch for it, but not before january at least

@ king0billy - added to an ongoing game should be fine but all features will not be available (would require a fresh save). I have no idea what happens if you remove the mod from an ongoing game.

@ Kapitalisti - I see. As I mentioned above, a comptibility patch with CFP is planned.

@ Renown - I see how that could happen. When a family member in the same court has the thrall trait, the court owner should normally remove the thrall trait for family members. Normally the AI should also offer to pay ransom for their enslaved family members, but perhaps this should be tweaked to happen more often (and the AI accepting it more often). Will look into it!
Renown Dec 17 @ 11:57am
Thralls as implemented still are a problem with game mechanics.

I could list the ways - but for one, having thralls happen for married noble characters creates situations where you have kings and emperors with a wife, concubines, lovers, soulmates and children who are all thralls because they got raided one time.

Now, historically this could make sense - but only if you create easy (for the AI at least) paths to get these family members back and unthralled.

I've just watched the Karlings, Sigurdrs, House of Wessex, and the scottish royal family just get wiped from existence in the same two year time frame. Kings sit there and never attempt to get new heirs?
Kapitalisti Dec 14 @ 1:16am
The Kemetic clothes clash with CFP resulting in really weird hats and snakes sprouting from people's heads.
king0billy Dec 13 @ 1:02am
Is this mod safely added to/removed from save/mid campaign without lines in .log files?
Squidian The BoFish Dec 11 @ 3:36pm
is this compatible with cfp?
lucabrasi.r.i.p Dec 9 @ 1:44pm
@Dr.Knevin - that's amazing thank you.
Que.tea Dec 9 @ 11:40am
I have an idea for one of the celtic holy sites if it isn't too much to ask but there is a buff for holding a holy site that gives advantage for provinces that share the same cultural heriatage
Dr. Knevin  [author] Dec 8 @ 10:10pm
@lucabrasi.r.i.p - absolutely, but I'm waiting a bit with the hellenism/roman update as I expect it to be massive. Meanwhile, Hellenism has been given 7 tenets as placeholders, including Patron Gods and Oracles, so some flavour has already been added. Additionally, there are also several new Greco-Roman faiths added already!
Dr. Knevin  [author] Dec 7 @ 10:02am
@Ricardo - glad you enjoy it! No it shouldn't be because of this mod. Do you use other mods?
Ricardo Dec 7 @ 2:03am
Hey man Im loving the mod and enjoying how much flavor it adds, but im noticing that the research and the development is way slower, is this part of the mod?
Dr. Knevin  [author] Dec 2 @ 10:33pm
@SmS Lauren's- thank you! It's not really save game compatible, since the new/updated religions need a fresh save to appear. However, I do think that the tenets and doctrines will be visible when reforming a faith on an ongoing save, so maybe you could give it a try and see what happens. As for compatibility with other mods, it should be mostly fine except for any other mod that edits religion (in general).
SmS Laurens Dec 2 @ 3:03pm
This looks amazing, exactly what I've been looking for. Is it savegame compatible by any chance?

And how does it generally work with other mods, is it very lightwieght or can I expect some problems in a heavy modlist?

Tnx!
Que.tea Nov 28 @ 8:19am
thank you big dawg
Dr. Knevin  [author] Nov 28 @ 6:55am
@Solmyr - no, because they both edit the Asatru file
Solmyr Nov 28 @ 4:31am
Is this compatible with Asatru Holy Site Changes? https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2804483368
Perambulante in tenebr Nov 27 @ 11:26pm
thx
Dr. Knevin  [author] Nov 27 @ 9:35pm
Que.tea - Celtic paganism is actually what I am working on now!
Que.tea Nov 27 @ 1:08pm
can you add like celtic paganism
Dr. Knevin  [author] Nov 27 @ 1:01pm
@Interpres Crucifier - No worries, glad it worked out!

@hamletisdead - Done! Set the limit to 2000 characters, think that should be plenty!

@Perambulante in tenebr - I have too much on my plate to make a patch for it at the moment. If I get the original creators permission I could perhaps add the feature to his mod in the future
Perambulante in tenebr Nov 25 @ 2:42am
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3583047450&searchtext=Religion+customizable+sins+and+virtues It would be interesting if it were compatible with this mod. Does anyone want to make a patch?
hamletsdead Nov 23 @ 3:30pm
Loving the new update, thanks a million for the continued additions to the mod. When you have a minute would you mind increasing the character limit in the faith creation .gui from 240 to something larger (e.g., 1000)? There's plenty of room in the box for a more comprehensive description and lots of players have enough OCD to want to immerse themselves in creating something more complicated than is possible in 240 characters. Just a suggestion, not a demand. (Personally I changed the line in the GUI to 9999). Thanks again, appreciate the work.
Interpres Crucifer Nov 21 @ 1:43pm
@Dr Knevin My bad, I realized I wasn't trying paying attention. It was fixed after changing the load order.
Dr. Knevin  [author] Nov 21 @ 12:51pm
@andyvee - Thank you! I can't take credit for the Egyptian clothing, that was made by Owlcoholic for the Bronze Age Reborn mod, I am using it with their permission. I agree that a unification of lower and upper Egypt would be cool, will look into it and see if it is something I can add in the next update.

@ck3user7748 - For me all those virtues are listed as they should, but let me know if you still have issues.

@Rhodie Ranger - Oops, you are right, forgot to change that. I just posted an update to fix that, so now the anarya will be neither eunuchs or sodomites, and their sexuality is random as for any npc.

@Interpres Crucifier - Strange, never had this issue, just checked again and he appears as he should for me. Do you use any other mods?
Interpres Crucifer Nov 21 @ 10:46am
I apologise if it was reported before but Is it just me or is Pope always naked?
Rhodie Ranger Nov 21 @ 4:06am
I hate to be critical, but you """fixed""" the utterly empty semantical issue of the anarya description while still keeping them (ahistorically) homosexual and sodotime (which, ironically, is a crime for the scythian religion, meaning you can imprison them on these grounds, lol).
ck3user7748 Nov 20 @ 3:41pm
I want to say the tenet with berserker in the list was showing none properly - but let me check again post update
andyvee Nov 20 @ 1:58pm
First of all: congratulations on your work, I found it incredible, especially the clothes for the Egyptians, it's truly fantastic work, congratulations again. If I can suggest something to improve, it would be regarding the Egyptians themselves. I did a run with this nation using the mod, and I missed the decision to conquer Kemet, like in the Polytheism Reborn mod, which does the same thing as yours. That's the only thing I missed: making the unification between Upper and Lower Egypt and founding the nation of Kemet. Once again, thank you for your work and keep it up!
Dr. Knevin  [author] Nov 20 @ 1:26pm
I uploaded a small update now with some fixes:

* Shinto and Shugendo now have slavery set to shunned
* Anarya descriptions have been revised a bit
* Issue with XP not increasing for army traits should be resolved now
* Cranial trophies tenet should work now
* Issue with poet tenet not appearing as a virtue is fixed.
Dr. Knevin  [author] Nov 20 @ 12:23pm
@ck3user7748 - I see that the issue is for those tenets who is supposed to make poet a virtue. Do you see any other tenets/traits with this issue?
Dr. Knevin  [author] Nov 20 @ 12:09pm
@ck3user7748 - I see, could you give some examples of such tenets of where the virtues/sins does not work? It would help me identify the issue.

@yaminogajin - Am planning to get around to abrahamic faiths eventually. I have already added some flavour and faiths for abrahamic religions, but at some point I want to make an update focusing on them
yaminogaijin Nov 20 @ 8:54am
We need a abrahamic version of this.
ck3user7748 Nov 20 @ 3:56am
many of the sins and virtues in the new tenets do not work, possibly resulting from some of the traits becoming lifestyle traits in 1.18
Dr. Knevin  [author] Nov 19 @ 9:20am
@Drommeren - Great! I didn't do anything but I am glad it worked out!
Drommeren Nov 18 @ 7:00pm
@Dr.Knevin thank you for the reply! I have no idea how or why but I have now managed to get it to work hahaha. I'm unsure if something got updated with another mod that I wasn't aware was having the conflict with this or my further meddling with my load order changed something - but all is well now!
Dr. Knevin  [author] Nov 18 @ 12:45pm
@WinWolf - Awesome, I added it to the description!

@ Drommeren - That sounds strange, will do some testing and see if I can replicate the issue and hopefully fix it. Is it a historical character you're playing as or a custom character? Do you have the same issue if you play as another character? Do you have the same issue if all other mods are turned off?

@Marxista-Leninista and Rhodie Ranger - I see that there is some disagreement on the topic. I will however look over the descriptions and see what I can change to make them better.

@obcorbino2146 - I have no idea actually, sorry.
Cat_and_cat_inc Nov 17 @ 3:18pm
@obcorbino2146 Most mods are achievement compatible in ck3 (I think all are).
obcorbino2146 Nov 17 @ 2:55pm
achievements compatible?
Marxista-Leninista Nov 17 @ 7:42am
@Rhodie Ranger I’d recommend thinking about it like this. This is a group of people who spoke, lived, dressed as, and acted as a specific caste of women. They were socially isolated to that caste. Because they were considered to not always have been women, in societies where these sorts of things were not understood or accepted, they were labelled as simple cross dressers, diseased, homosexuals, eunuchs, non-men, etc; despite this not being how they functioned, because that was how people in the societies that observed these people treated these people in their own society. Can you think of any group that might go through that treatment today? I can! It’s trans women.
Marxista-Leninista Nov 17 @ 7:37am
@Rhodie Ranger that’s not how historical consensus works, there is more examination that simple face value, and historical gender studies are done by historians.
No, what it resembles is transphobic attitudes towards trans women. By “Asian third genders” I assume you mean the Hijra? Because the Hijra call themselves women. So do all of those “third gender” categories, actually. I’d recommend you read the sources about those so called “third genders”, like Serena Nanda’s “Neither Man Nor Woman”, which is the basis of most modern study of “third genders” and also features Nanda purposefully ignoring Hijra calling themselves trans women because they can’t give birth. Or perhaps start with a deconstruction of the topic. Here’s a link to one.
https://taliabhattwrites.substack.com/p/the-third-sex
Rhodie Ranger Nov 17 @ 4:16am
@Marxista-Leninista There's no such consensus among historians, no such consensus could exist because the primary sources (which are very limited) do not say that.
Maybe in another field, like historical gender studies?
"Anarya" meaning "non-man", it's more likely that they were indeed considered something different from just women, either a third gender or, at most, a very specific category of women: this resembles the terms used for the third gender categories in many Asian and south pacific cultures.
What I will readily agree on, is that the etiology of the "illness of women", as Hippocrates called it, that they thought they were afflicted with, was relatively likely to have been the same as non-homosexual gender dysphoria today.
Personally I think the description is fine as it is.
Drommeren Nov 17 @ 2:28am
I reallllly love this mod, fantastic work! However, I've spent the last like 45 minutes trying to figure out which of the mods I have installed are giving some of my characters permanent clothing that I cannot remove in the vanilla barbershop or the Better Barbershop mod and after much testing it appears to be this. I've played around with load orders and such too!

I started a game with a character who has the Perunovery faith (unreformed Slavic faith), which does not appear to have any Apparel Doctrines, however my ruler is wearing headware that I cannot take off no matter what I try unless I remove this mod!

I'm a sucker for fine tuning my ruler and dynasty character outfits, so I was hoping/wondering if this was something that might be looked into?
Marxista-Leninista Nov 17 @ 1:50am
No problem at all, thank you!
WinWolf Nov 16 @ 9:44pm
Hi! Can you please add my Russian localization to the description? https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3411675965
Dr. Knevin  [author] Nov 16 @ 12:31pm
@Marxista-Leninista - I see your point! I will think about how I can re-phrase the descriptions. Thank you for your advice!
Marxista-Leninista Nov 15 @ 12:40am
(cont) I don't personally, but I know people get finicky about calling people in the past trans, but really, what's the difference between what they go through--physical (in the sense that the Scythians believed they were transformed) and social transition from wearing male clothes to female ones, using male terms to female ones, etc--and what trans women today do, aside from the medicine? Just my two cents
Marxista-Leninista Nov 15 @ 12:40am
I'd suggest moving things in a feminine direction. haven't played with mods in a little bit so forgive me if I've misremembered your descriptions, but I believe the mod currently characterises them as sort of straddling the boundaries of gender and they don't, really. Regardless of what anyone thinks of them, if Scythian society considered them women, and the way they were treated was as a caste of women, I think saying they exist between men and women is incorrect. They just "used to" be men, but are no longer, to use outdated language. I think making a direct reference to them being "transformed into women" or just referring to them as women with the description of their religious specifics is the best thing. (cont)
Dr. Knevin  [author] Nov 14 @ 12:25am
@Ardúnadan - a compatibility patch would be needed for that, and it doesn't exist yet, but I will look into it!

@Cat_and_cat_inc - it's covered by judaism and Islam having the "restricted" meat attitude. The doctrine description have Jewish and Islamic flavour text going into details about slaughtering.

@kincaidseriin - thank you!

@Marxista-Leninista - interesting, so would you suggest keeping things as they are then?
Marxista-Leninista Nov 13 @ 9:18pm
The comments here about the Enarei being inaccurate are right but in the wrong direction. Modern scholarship has shifted to referring to them as being transgender, and in any case, there's not actually any difference between "lives/speaks/is regarded as a woman" and "is a woman". Also, their goddess isn't androgynous. There was a whole edit war on wikipedia about this fairly recently actually, I believe they settled on saying they were "men who were transformed into women"
kincaidseriin Nov 13 @ 6:55pm
Fantastic work, love this mod.
