Yes, I'm aware of this issue. The technical ute is treated as an air unit to allow it to sit high enough on the vehicle. Air units conform to an elevation map which smooths out changes in height. When it is deployed near any cliffs, it will sit too high on the vehicle as it reacts to the height change of the terrain.

I have reproduced the same technical bug from the Kwalasha campaign. UTE technicals have their turrets hanging in the air above the truck (but are otherwise quite functional). Heavy trucks still work and look correct.
