Hey man! I am making a norse overhaul/alternate 867 start date mod, could i use your mod within mine ofc with credit to you? Just getting into modding and wanted something like this for the diversity of eyes and phenotypes across a broken Nordic empire.
Lechapichat Oct 30 @ 6:27am

@HeirandtheSpare yeah, I figured that out after i posted my comment lmao. Went on and tried your mod by itself and it worked perfectly.

does this work with 1.18 / All Under Heaven?
rony419 Oct 2 @ 5:25am
@HeirandtheSpare No worries, thank you for the reply anyway.
HeirandtheSpare  [author] Oct 1 @ 8:28am
@rony419- perhaps after the bigger DLC comes out I can add some slightly deeper shades of red, but there isn't any room for a large expansion of colors, as Albinos only draw their eye colors from a single area on the color map, so we are limited to just that. It's not very big and really limits what you can do.
rony419 Oct 1 @ 7:34am
@HeirandtheSpare Don't get me wrong I LOVE the diversity your mod brings and it wasn't meant as criticism, just an informative discussion.

You're completely right about the bright red eyes in vanilla being absurd, but irl albinos can appear to have red shades for their eyes just as all the other colors you've mentioned. You can google it and see for yourself. Lack of melanin and iris transillumination causes light to not be blocked effectively and the eyes to have a glowing of translucent appearance with diff shades under certain light condisions, red included (again, due to tiny blood vessels - which can be red, violet or blue and give those optical illusions).

I think you should add back some shades of subtle red for albinism and also make them able to have light blue to gray eyes and rarely very light brown. No worries if you don't have the desire to edit your mod farther, it's really great anyway :)
HeirandtheSpare  [author] Sep 30 @ 6:23pm
@rony419..... I disagree, because I have actually seen Albino people with eye color shades that looked bluish purple, a very very light pink, and a pinkish purple before. Have you seen the original color!? (Yes, it's just one, no variation at all.) THEY ARE ABSURD! I have never seen anyone with bright red eyes before in real life. So regardless of what color they really are, they just don't exist in real life the way they do in a vanilla game. Thus, mine are more realistic.
rony419 Sep 30 @ 4:49pm
Love this mod sm! Just a heads up - albinism usually have blue to gray or sometimes hazel to brown eyes, there's no true pink or violet as much as there's no true red. It happens when light shines through the iris and reflects off the blood vessels at the back of the eye. So if considering realism they're all equally absurd lol.
HeirandtheSpare  [author] Sep 21 @ 8:23pm
It doesn't need an update.
𝙪𝙡𝙞 Sep 10 @ 5:09pm
does this mod need an update? i love this mod!
kazimierzliplanski Sep 9 @ 6:43am
Please update!
Galahad Aug 20 @ 12:41pm
Fair enough. Thanks for the response, and the mod of course.
HeirandtheSpare  [author] Aug 20 @ 11:16am
@Galahad, Compared to the vanilla game, they are a huge improvement. Also, it really depends on the setup you have. I've seen other people's games and their colors were a lot more vivid than mine are. But all in all, there will always be some colors that are too vivid. I chose to keep some in there for those that like a more fantastical aesthetic. I think that's better than simply offering less colors.
Galahad Aug 20 @ 9:55am
The blues could be a little more blue. Most blue tones look grey-ish.
Sevarics Aug 13 @ 3:35pm
Thanks so much. I credited you and linked to this mod on it as well. Idk if you need the link to direct people to it but here you go: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3548389037
HeirandtheSpare  [author] Aug 13 @ 10:43am
@Sevarics, yes, that's fine. As long as you credit me you're welcome to share it. Thanks for bothering with that as I had no plans to. :-)
Sevarics Aug 12 @ 6:47pm
Howdy. First just want to say that I love love love your mod and have been using it since it came out.

Secondly, I edited your palette to make it more in line with the AGOT Targaryens by moving the purple from the left side to the right side since that is how the original AGOT eye palette works.

Would I be allowed to upload it to the workshop for the other AGOT players so that they don't bug you about it and credit you ?
HeirandtheSpare  [author] May 21 @ 7:25pm
@Lion Thanks!
The Lion of Judah May 21 @ 2:23pm
Great mod and the models you used are impressive

yes,this is good point

@HeirandtheSpare
Change the descriptor to 1.* and you will have your peace :D
HeirandtheSpare  [author] Apr 30 @ 4:39pm
@hamletsdead. Oh! Thanks for letting me know. Nothing has actually been updated, as there is no need to do so. But most people don't bother learning that.
hamletsdead Apr 30 @ 12:33pm
Thanks for the 1.16 update. Works great with Khans of the Steppe. Just fyi you changed the descriptor to 1.16.1 instead of 1.16.01 so the dumb yellow triangle still shows up.
HeirandtheSpare  [author] Mar 1 @ 7:04am
@Nerule, rain: My guess would be my mod is loaded after EPE.
Nerule Feb 28 @ 10:26am
@Nate2469 You better share that load order issue or a 1000 years of diarrhea for you good sir.
freak Jan 20 @ 12:21pm
@Nate2469 Any chance you could share what the issue with the order was? I'm having the exact same issue and it's driving me crazy trying to fix it 😭
HeirandtheSpare  [author] Jan 12 @ 9:53pm
@Nate2469 Aha! You should alert them that it does that. Nobody wants to see eyelashless people walking around.
Nate2469 Jan 12 @ 9:49pm
@HeirandtheSpare...did some tweaking and it was EPE that was causing the issue i thought it was your mod at first as it was around the eyes for the issue i had but its was alas my own mod order issue. The mod works great thank you.
HeirandtheSpare  [author] Jan 12 @ 7:49pm
@Nate2469..... firstly, my mod doesn't add any eyelashes, it changes eye color and eye texture only. But are you talking about for female characters, or for male characters? Male characters don't have any bottom eyelashes to begin with. Don't ask me why, but they don't. It was a dumb decision on the part of Paradox that my friend lindest and myself were trying to fix, but I haven't heard anything from her for awhile. Also, are you using the vanilla ruler designer, or a modded one? If you tell me all the portrait mods you have in, I can likely help you.
Nate2469 Jan 12 @ 7:16pm
So i noticed that when in Ruler designer and creating a character when i added one of the beauty traits like comely or beautiful the eyelashes added by your mod disappear. I have no mod that shouldn't change the way that trait works. Kinda makes that trait the opposite of what it is with your mod making the eyes so much better. Could be a bug with that trait?
HeirandtheSpare  [author] Nov 30, 2024 @ 2:55pm
@dyl1946 Yeah, that's what I figured. Thanks for asking though!
dyl1946 Nov 30, 2024 @ 5:20am
@HeirandtheSpare I asked mod developer about dividing the eye part from AGOT, but sadly it's deeply bond with AGOT that cannot move simply.
HeirandtheSpare  [author] Nov 29, 2024 @ 8:04pm
@dyl1946 Me too! I read somewhere that the devs for AGOT found out how to make it work, but I don't think they have yet. I don't actually play with that mod so it probably would do little good anyway. But I would love that.
intra Nov 29, 2024 @ 1:55pm
disregard my post, just realized another beauty mod overrid it. i see it now after disabling that other one. whoops :steamfacepalm:
intra Nov 29, 2024 @ 12:23pm
am i crazy or did this mod have a eye saturation slider like 2 days ago, or did you remove that to make it more realistic (and if yes to the latter, could you please add it back in, or at least as an extra side addon?) pretty please
/\ltanic Nov 29, 2024 @ 10:44am
@HeirandtheSpare

Go to your mod and change game version in descriptor to "1.*", then the out-of-date warning will never appear unless CK3 somehow updates to become 2.something

This effective tells everyone that your mod will always work on any version of game 1.something
dyl1946 Nov 29, 2024 @ 5:14am
I wish if there is anyway to approach heterochromia
HeirandtheSpare  [author] Nov 23, 2024 @ 11:22am
@Atlantic Apparently AGOT uses it's own textures, which is why it isn't compatible. I think one of the devs posted the particulars awhile ago in the comments. I guess some of the characters in the book have certain eye colors, and you can't get purple eyes in my mod unless you create a character with violet eyes, or they have albinism. And yes, I have told people about it not needing an update, but people freak out about the little yellow triangle. Most don't concern themselves with how mods work, or even what a dds file is.
/\ltanic Nov 22, 2024 @ 10:32pm
Oh, also that means this mod don't ever needs update because it has no script and only texture: no amount of insane Paradox update can break a purely graphic mod. Unless they changed the 3 dds file locations(and thus path), which is highly unlikely to happen.
/\ltanic Nov 22, 2024 @ 10:25pm
To everyone asking, there is nothing to be "compatible" with AGOT because the content of this mod is cosmetic only, not a single line of code exists to cause conflict. The entirety of this mod is literally just 3 dds files that replaced texture; there is no overlapping mechanic or script or GUI or anything that needs a patch. It's only a matter of preference: you either like this mod's eye texture better(load it after) or AGOT's eye texture(load it before: not sure why you would need this then). The same goes for Elder Kings 2, or any other mod for compatibility, this mod IS compatible with any other mod as nothing in this mod will break, bug, or mess up your game in any way whatsoever - not even in graphic.
