According to the recent set of patch notes, the ShowItemText bug has been fixed!! I'll go ahead and revert the changes.
(I'd like to believe that my email was the reason that it got fixed, but I kinda doubt I was the only one with that issue :p)

I'll send an email over to Nicalis once I get the chance. Thanks for letting me know the mod is broken, though! I've used this trick for a couple of mods, but if they're all broken for the same reason, then it should be pretty easy fix.

that's really strange. and unfortunate, "faded grunch" is a *really* funny popup. i'd definitely still use the mod even if it only has the audio and visuals though so i'll keep an eye out
since it wasn't in the changelog it's probably a bug, right? maybe you should send them a bug report email... i'd do it myself but i don't mod isaac so i wouldn't be able to give much info

I'm... actually not sure. I just tested it, and it seems like the function to show custom item text is completely broken by Rep+, since they changed it so that multiple item popups can appear at once. Or maybe not? It's hard to tell, since the documentation still hasn't been updated.

I could technically override the names and descriptions of the photos manually by changing items.xml, but that would make the mod incompatible with ANY other mod that changes items.xml, which seems like a massive hassle. For now, I'll sleep on it, and hope they actually fix their dang API, but I'll remove the "sainte" and "grunch" popups so that it's actually usable.

I wish I didn't have to change a mod that worked perfectly fine before because of a change they didn't mention anywhere in the changelog, but there's not much I can do about it so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

do you think you'll ever update this to work w/ rep+? it's Mostly functional, but when i go to the next floor the text that pops up doesn't go away unless i leave the run and then continue it again...
