I redid it, and it was a decent challenge, but once you pop that last cure prevention, it goes from hard to easy.
Mythblade Nexia Sep 21, 2024 @ 10:21pm
Nah, it wasn't too hard. I just was a bit of a troll with it, and committed to the bit.
Caistrophytum  [author] Sep 21, 2024 @ 1:08am
Thanks, I guess..? It is always nice to receive a 10/10, but oh boy... the dedication! Was it too hard to reach the zombie stage? Maybe unneeded? Should I tweak the game-play so it'll be a must?

Final Part

Final date: 11-7-2068. Humanity has been eradicated. It's currently 6:30 AM. This has taken 3.5 real life hours to complete. Roommate believes I need a psychiatric evaluation. I agree, only if he's footing the bill. He reevaluated his diagnosis to me getting sleep and touching grass. I am inclined to agree with this as well.

Last few humans were in Canada and New Zealand.

Canada had the last laugh when the New Zealanders died first.

Zombie plague; without zombies. Somehow worked.

10/10, would play again and actually do zombies this time.

Part 5

Left to use bathroom. Returned. Year 2023. No further progress.

Roommate has since left to go to sleep; claiming I should 'not be up playing a stupid game at 5:00 AM when I got work in the morning.'

Refuse.

I will see this through. I will kill the world without using a single zombie in a simulation about killing the world with zombies.

It is present day. Only a billion and some change humans remain alive. I wait for their inevitable carnage-less slaughter as I stare at this dead husk of a world, waiting for it to crumble and fall from the Knox County Virus, one which never turned into a plague of undeath.'

Go take a shower

The year is 2034. I've been at this for almost 2 hours. 600,000,000 people remain, and dropping slowly. At this rate, they could repopulate. Start to root for their survival in this post apocalyptic hellscape I created for them.

Part 4

Look to roommate to confirm that I didn't hallucinate that.

He confirms what my Dyslexia saw as true.

Begin 21 minute discussion on how Angola could approve human experimentation without a government to approve it.

Eventually go into the logs after agreeing that this couldn't be right.

Thatmomentwhenyourealizethatyouandyourroommatebothhavedyslexiaandhaveonebrainfunctionalbraincellbetweenthetwoofyouandyougaveittothethirdroommatesotheycouldbuygroceriesontheirwaybackfromwork.jpg

Wait a while longer, looking at memes.

Return. Year is 2019. Cure is still 17%. Last news update was in 2008. Only 3/5ths of the world population dead.

New Zealand finally turned off the mobile lines. Internet still remains, however, despite New Zealand government collapse.

Part 3

Decide to read through the news logs.

Notes that ever country has gone into martial law, closed all forgein communication, blocked the internet, removed mobile connections and has started human experimentation, and more... except New Zealand.

NewZealandlettingit'spopulationstillhavethegloryoftheinternetevenintheapocalypse.jpg

Year 2007. Angola falls into Anarchy first. Waiting for the others to follow suit.

Watch the wave of 'X goverment has fallen' scroll across the news feed.

Roommate is pleased, he likes the chaos from mass anarchy.

New Zealand hasn't fallen yet.

Sees 'Algeria has approved human experimentation' float across the news feed.

Dyslexia read that as 'Angola has approved human experimentation'.

Look to roommate to confirm that I didn't hallucinate that.

He confirms what my Dyslexia saw as true.

Begin 21 minute discussion on how Angola could approve human experimentation without a government to approve it.

Part 3

Realize the cure is going at a snails pace, so I decide to wait it out. I'm nothing but patient.
The year is 2005. I finally got enough points to get Insanity and max the mental infection tree to get zombies. Look to see how many people are dead.

Halfthepopulationisdeadwithoutasinglezombietokillthem.jpg

Look over at the cure progress. Has stopped at 17%, and hasn't moved since 2001.

Shrugs shoulders and decides to go get a drink and some snacks, and wait it out. No zombies for me.

Returns 12 minutes later. Infection still going strong, and cure progress is moving slower than grass growth.
Mythblade Nexia Sep 20, 2024 @ 4:38am
Part 2.

Want to get all the islands under my belt. Even with an airport, Greenland is still the bane to my existence.

Wait till I get Greenland. Year is 1998, nearing 1999. Every country but Morocco and Greenland are infected with at least 10000 individuals at this point.

Have a bet going with my roommate to see which will be infected first. He bets Morocco. I bet Greenland.

Easiest$20inmylife.jpg

Finally get Greenland; start pressing all the buttons. Focus on preventing cure from ever being gotten, and mutation. Get a bit of cold resistance so I can speed up Greenlands infection. Still not fast enough for my taste; Get water and blood maxed as well and one into air.

Remember I have to max mental infection in order to get zombies. I have nothing in it, and no points. FML.

Be me: a random guy who unleashed the Knox Virus on the world.

Have a vague idea of how I should play this out, but never actually played this scenario before.

Go stealth mode, cause I am not a risk taker, and any infection is decent infection. Decide to not take the freebie in the Transmissions menu yet.

Infect all of America without getting any symptom, transmission, or abilities. Year is 1994.

Decide to say say 'screw it, I'll get to 1B infected before I start actually doing things.'

Accumulate 127 points over the course of 2 years, finally reaching 1B infected. Decide that I should play it safe still, and decide to not open the Infection Menu till I'm satisfied.

@Schepperdragon Thank you so much for your kind and warm words! I appreciate it!

i love project zomboid and watching it in plague inc is just fantastic!

I'm not a pro to really say what's too weak or strong right now so here are my reasons why you should play this scenario:

- the concept that you have to unlock upgrades before you can unlock others was an idea I had before and has implemented it quite well

- Interesting upgrades as well as descriptions about the knox virus.

- Almost good balance (because if you develop intentionally or not intentionally so that the research takes forever but you have no zombies then you have fun probably about 30 to 1 hour or even 2 scientist bubbles to break and wait as the humanity dies, I had no more desire after 10 minutes but that's my fault :)

COOl MOD

Captain > I understand. I have updated the scenario to have cheaper upgrades, and a more clear approach. If you still do not enjoy it, I apologize.
Captain Apr 24, 2024 @ 9:54pm
Tried this, ended up slowly getting dna while the cure never developed, never unlocked zombies and the planes delivering the cure just decided to stop flying out even though there was 100 million people still alive over there. ended in 2004, it just got way too boring after that long waiting for it to mutate or get enough dna...

YALL "The red Scream" IS OUT! Please, if you can, check it out! I'll be more than happy for any kind of feedback, as long as it'll be helpful for the continuous positive growth of the scenario. Hope you'll enjoy it :)

i will soon
Caistrophytum  [author] Jan 9, 2024 @ 8:23am
I have updated my scenario, made stuff cheaper and added airlines. Would you like to check it out for me? Don't hesitate to give more suggestions if you have any.
CaptainCurl Jan 5, 2024 @ 10:50pm
Its fine i tried again but still.
CaptainCurl Jan 5, 2024 @ 10:02pm
yeah but i think you should make dna more obtainable due to not even being able to make zombies due to honestly my mistake ill try later but you could still consider making symptoms especially hyper salvation cheaper.
Caistrophytum  [author] Jan 5, 2024 @ 9:53pm
Did you like it, though? If not, what could be improved?
Caistrophytum  [author] Jan 5, 2024 @ 9:52pm
Incredible
CaptainCurl Jan 5, 2024 @ 8:58pm
