@Sence Wow. Was just going through all my favorited mods to see which ones to keep and which ones to get rid of. Haven't been here in a while... also not sure why I'm going through my 21 pages of mods at 4:00 in the morning, but I have always been one to get bored and search for anything to do besides daydream.
Sirowl1 Sep 19, 2014 @ 6:29am
@sence I understand perfectly
JustJerry Sep 18, 2014 @ 8:27am
I shall say this if you want to create another wooden item , add it to teh game. Don't replace anything. just add not subtract like math

@chickmagneto1 Unfortunately, the model displayed is the work of LeanWolf, who deserves all credit for making it look so obscenely sensual. On top of that, I made a promise to the vigilant and steadfast Nar-Whal Crusader preventing me from releasing another Wooden Sword replacer on the workshop. I can't (in good conscience) make a mod based on LeanWolf's work available on the Steam Workshop, but I don't mind jumping through a few hoops to get the "Improved Wooden Sword -Dragonbone Edition- for Hearthfire" or "Wooden Dragonbone Sword" mod to you personally. If you're interested, please let me know.

@sence would it be possible for you to add the wooden dragonbone sword to the game i love the look of the sword

JustJerry Sep 10, 2014 @ 5:04pm
wELL PUT!

@Nar-Whal Crusader I hope you don't think I've forgotten about you, my good man!

Yea, though daily I render contrition before Blender, NifSkope, and their infinite mysteries, sorely do I repent ever having taking the model/texture of the venerable Wooden Sword of auld in vain. My whole being-- nay, my very soul!-- aches and toils in unhappy remembrance that I, in my foolish, callous youth, e'er deigned take up the Burden of Mods for so profane a folly, mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa . Verily do I yearn to revisit the precious summer of happy innocence, the final reprieve before Creation Kit's autumn of debauched depravity...

Oh, friendly warning: if nobody specifies what is meant by wooden spells and wooden armor, I might just have to get creative.

@chickmagneto1 It's up now. Full disclosure: that's LeanWolf's Better Shaped Weapons model for the Dragonbone Sword.
Sirowl1 Sep 10, 2014 @ 1:10pm
@sence thank you I had tryed myself to make it but it would always crash my game im not the best at making mods so it would be amazing to see one like that
Sence  [author] Sep 10, 2014 @ 1:07pm
@chickmagneto1 I'd be more than happy to oblige. I need a break, anyways. I'll post a preview on this mod's image slideshow in a couple of hours. Cheers, mate!
Sirowl1 Sep 10, 2014 @ 12:13pm
@sence i would love to see a wooden dragon bone sword if it is possible

@Icemelt I'm nearing a breakthrough with enabling child combat. The children already have all the requisite animations, and it's been done before, but I'm having trouble getting them to use their equipment. I'm hoping to have a better handle on the situation by this time next week. Unfortunately, any progress I make will not be likely to see the workshop for months, as there have been numerous requests which I hope to fulfill with one comprehensive child overhaul mod.
JustJerry Sep 8, 2014 @ 4:08pm
:( yup again i shoul've talked to you about this too but hopefully you'ved learned of the amazing wooden sword
MikeOxabigun Sep 8, 2014 @ 1:10am
On a side note about what you said about children using real swords.... what about children using magic.. seriously.. there has to be some red headed brat that knows how to cast flames... I'm sure of it XD

@Ecolyиe I knew it. I just knew that I wasn't the only one who thought Skyrim needed these things. Next, you'll be telling me you were thinking of just making regular swords useable by children in regular combat! Boggles my mind that I'm amongst the first modders to address these things.

I made a quick mock-up of a stahlrim-style wooden sword. Left a pic up there in case you were curious. The nulled normal map keeps the blade smooth-lookin', but it looks like you were right to skip the stahlrim and advocate the dragonbone. Only trouble with the wooden Dragonbone Sword is that, with the ebony handle left as-is, it looks like a regular Dragonbone Sword. With mahogany, it looks exactly like a regular bloody Dragonbone Sword.
Evocatari Sep 6, 2014 @ 2:48pm
@Sence I was actually thinking about requesting a Stahlrim wooden sword when I was typing my comment. But after looking at it for a moment, and even going as far as taking the textures off and looking at the plain model, it just looked too much like ice.
Sence  [author] Sep 6, 2014 @ 8:16am
@Ecolyиe Get out of my head, man! It's like you're reading my mind! I was also looking at LeanWolf's Stahlrim Sword model, 'cause it looks whittled and stuff. It'll never see the Workshop, though... I'm too shy to ask for permission to use the models and I can't be bothered to mock up my own BSW-inspired versions. Them's the breaks, I suppose.
Evocatari Sep 5, 2014 @ 5:52pm
@Sence Nah, I can delete my own comments. But yeah, a Dragonbone version would be pretty sweet, although if I were to suggest something about them, it would be this: Leave the hilt black. Most of the time, when a model is made to look like metal, giving it another texture doesn't look too great. Dragonbone blades and the Iron Sword are the only exceptions I've found.
Sence  [author] Sep 5, 2014 @ 3:09pm
@Ecolyиe That's so funny! I was just working on a standalone wooden sword based on the (LeanWolf's Better Shaped Weapons) Dragonbone Sword for personal use. Great minds, eh? I'll see what I can do over the weekend; another faithful subscriber suggested non-replacer wooden warhammers for whelps and toy targes for tots.

Thanks for your input, Ecolyиe. If you like, I could delete all your comments here. No charge. (<-fragment consider revising)

@jasonargile Oh. Well, then. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Pine textures still forthcoming. Carry on, you sexy beast!
Jason Argile Sep 5, 2014 @ 2:52am
i was replying to eslagle but i don't know how to do the @ thing
Sence  [author] Sep 4, 2014 @ 8:47pm
@jasonargile You made a great point about the bland, vaguely sepia toned wood texture. I will do better in the future. Next one's for you, friend.

PS I love the profile pic. Iconic!
Sence  [author] Sep 4, 2014 @ 8:47pm
@eslagle7 Good looking out! It should be fixed now. Thanks so much for trying my mod and taking the time to let me know something's off.
Sence  [author] Sep 4, 2014 @ 8:10pm
I'll get right on fixing the alpha channel for the texture. You know me; playing with legos all day. As far as the wood goes, how about pine? I know it's unrealistic to use ash (practicality in general and locality skyrim-specifically), but it's tough to find useable high-res pine or poplar or hickory grain pics that aren't riddled with knots. Worry knot! I'm on it. Would pine be okay?
Jason Argile Sep 4, 2014 @ 1:05pm
really? you do know there are several differnt kinds of wood right? each with slightly differnt color?
Prism Sidhe Sep 4, 2014 @ 3:32am
the wooden sword doesn't look wooden, it looks like tan-colored steel
