joemama1512: the way i did it makes compatibility patches much harder. i was sort of hoping everyone hacking it in individually would work out.
charchar: build a few and find out, then ask me again if you still dont get it.
speed runner z: it depends on your mod loadout. his is compatible with many more mods than mine.
anonacraffter: can you give a few more details? what were you doing when it crashed? what does the crash report say?
Otherwise people will just find that your AI core doesnt work with half the stuff they are used to and go back to the old one.
AI Core - Automated Ship Parts (under new management)
Due to apparent departure of Aephiex, I am taking over this mod. It adds an AI Core modded part that faces a single direction with a range of 1. It effectively adds a virtual crew member, for almost all vanilla parts and several modded parts that are supported. Note that it must have power to function and works well with Cables mod or other power transfer mods like MMCT.
This makes career a bit easier since you can do more with less crew, plus having available guns if jumped when your crew is outside is pretty handy! The tradeoff is the higher material cost and command point cost, plus lack of versatility of the AI core as it cannot do other stuff like a crew member.
You can also keep your crew safer by having AI control disruptors on the vulnerable outside of your ship for example. Note that the AI cannot reload ammo and such.
It isn't that difficult to provide insight. Especially when you claim to make the original mod better, yet It seems like based on your description vs the answering of a comment that it supplements, not replaces the crew with AI, that is in conflict of contradiction. I am not trying to be rude or show judgment however I am just frustrated at how hard it is to find mods now a days based on description.
