they randomly pick up any melee weapons available except the chainsaw which has to be given manually.

If you want them to have a new one than the one they have currently set the value to zero if there's a pistol around so they swap to it then take them to the new melee weapons and set the command back to whatever number it was at.

sb_max_team_melee_weapons 0-4 depending on how many you want. If the team has at least this number the bots wont pick up any other melee weapons.
