Shouldn't Falin be listed as Upper and not Lower?

Because the translation wasn't 100% clear - you can have a maximum of 5 item cards, cooked monster cards and boss monster cards total . So 4 cooked monster cards and 1 item card, but if you get another, you must discard.

@OldBoy yeah, that's how I understood it as well, it just seemed too powerful to be the case. Thanks for clearing that up!
OldBoy Jul 9, 2024 @ 2:52pm
@NirDine technically yes you can, as per the definition: "[...] A locksmith or ninja who is not in the exhausted state may reroll up to x dice rolled in 1a Battle by becoming exhausted". Cooking a monster after defeating it is part of the 1a Battle step so it works.
Cannot be done if the character who has reroll participated in the fight though as characters are exhausted the moment they are selected to fight.

Would you happen to know if you can use Reroll with the 2d6 for cooking the monsters after a you defeat them?

@45 Rats in a trenchcoat , there are very limited ways to reacquire magic token. Among them is the mana root you mentioned and iirc there is a market you can play the Trading card to spend 2 coins to earn magic tokens back. Just like the manga (or show), magic is hard to acquire within the dungeon.

Not sure if I'm missing something because I haven't played a whole lot yet, but how do you regain magic tokens? I know there is the mana root item. But it seems there should be more ways to get magic tokens back. Thank you!!!

I've not had time to respond to all the comments but thank you for all the kind words everyone!

My friends and I have been playing a bunch, It's really, really fun.
The flavour of the parties and their skills are really fun also, our only problems is that monsters in general are almost too easy to beat with vanilla parties.

Can't thank you enough for your translation, this is my favourite manga and it makes me incredibly happy to be able to play it!
Sally Sep 20, 2023 @ 3:47am
I doubt there's a discord out there for this game for me to be able to play it, but that doesn't change the work you put in is deeply appreciated :stella_happy:

Can I traslate this map to korean?

Sorry for the late response, Dabar! Had a long week at work. I was going to send you that link. The user who made that translation is the one who gave me permission to use his translation for this workshop project.
Dabar May 27, 2023 @ 1:57am
....Shit did not realise there was already translated materials at https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/371794/monster-eater !!!
Dabar May 23, 2023 @ 10:00pm
Thank you kindly for this - this is amazing!

I'm planning to buy the physical board game from Amazon Japan, and was wondering if you could share the translated pdf of the rulebook ?

Kind regards

After receiving confirmation, the rulebook has been updated to reflect the correct rules - 1 Victory Point per 3 money tokens rather "money/food".
Disco  [author] May 6, 2023 @ 10:48am
5.6 Update:

-The back of the Warg monster card has been fixed to have it's name instead of "Big Walking Mushroom"

-For the tokens, I need to do a double check with the translator (One user did translations, I did photoshopping and uploading) on the scoring for money/food.

The Scorecard says money, and the example the manual shows only shows players getting points off money (See "Example of Game End") so I am inclined to believe that you get 1 point per 3 money, not 3 food/money. Once I have confirmation on this I can do a quick update.
Disco  [author] May 3, 2023 @ 10:34am
The sword doesn't count toward it no. Didn't mean to imply that, sorry!
The Wise Wolf May 3, 2023 @ 3:07am
Yeah, I gathered the warg just is supposed to have the exact same back as Big Walking Mushroom, just mentioning itself by name.

Oh, you think the sword token counts to the item/dish/trohy limit? Hmm. I don't think anything in the manual implies that.
Disco  [author] May 2, 2023 @ 5:34pm
I will see what edits I can make to fix the issues listed this weekend. Thanks for sending the notes!

Until then:
-Warg folllows the same rules as the Big Walking Mushroom, you can't cook the Orc Dog.

-I believe having the sword token means you own it. The flat +2 to a warrior or ninja is nice but it doesn't provide victory points. Might make a player think twice about throwing the Living Armor at another player!

-The manual is correct on the tokens for points. It is both remaining food and money
The Wise Wolf May 1, 2023 @ 12:47pm
One more: the scoring reminder card mentions only points for money tokens, when manual says it's for money and food.
The Wise Wolf May 1, 2023 @ 11:46am
Also, small bug: the backside of the Warg is the same as for Big Waling Mushroom (and references Big Waling Mushroom).
The Wise Wolf May 1, 2023 @ 11:35am
Can you lose the sword token somehow? Or once someone gets it it's basically permanently theirs?
The Wise Wolf May 1, 2023 @ 1:29am
Oh, I missed that this part included item cards. Thanks!
Disco  [author] Apr 30, 2023 @ 6:37pm
I believe items should count against your 5-card limit. Page 17 section 'Maximum Number of cooked Monster cards and Item cards' reads "Cooked Monster Cards, Boss Monster Cards that have been defeated, and items cards that will be described later - each player can only have up to 5 cards maximum in total."

If you ever get a 6th card, you can choose which to discard and it returns to its pile, but you must keep Boss Monster Cards. If you cook a monster you still earn the tokens (mostly food) for cooking it. You can also use the special effects of item cards to return it to the stock pile after winning tokens.

As for Monster Maker, there may be a translation online at Board Game Geek. It may be possible to get it on TTS and I might try to do some digging on that.
The Wise Wolf Apr 30, 2023 @ 11:44am
Great work! I'm binging the manga recently, so this is a very pleasant surprise.

Small rules question: there isn't any limit on items, right? Only the 5 limit on cooked monsters/boss trophies?

Also somewhat related, this seems to be mechanically based on Monster Maker (rulebook mentions as much), I wonder if it would be possible to get that game on TTS. It seems to have a lot of expansions and crossovers.
