And for the record, there is no obligation from a mod creator to update their mod, it was made to have fun, would you prefer they delete it the moment they stop using it? Just make one better yourself (they even provide the code, for god sake) and don't be drama queens, they are not getting paid for making this mod, and this game is really old, they don't and never will have the responsability to "upgrade" the fun from people who are picking up the game, because that is what a mod is about.

this mod has a conflict with the button [C] from the story mode of "The watcher" you need to improve or upgrade this funtion

I disagree that its not our responsibility as mod authors to update our mods. It is literally 100% our responsibility, since we create and publish the mod and are responsible for it. And it's definitely not anyone else's responsibility to update our mods for us.

Now, if we want to abandon our mods and stop updating them, that's our choice. We have no obligations, but that still doesn't negate our responsibility. Responsibility is power and we should be proud of it.

It really isn't Dual's responsibility to update their mods. Modders make what they make for fun and they can stop when they feel like it. We can only appreciate it for what it is.
If you really care about their mods an want them to be updated, the best way to show it would be to update it yourself.
Most modders will not have a problem with others copying their code or forking their projects, as long as you show respect and properly credit them. Dual even says so on their github profile.

I don't want it to sound like im venting or anything like that, but I really hate how Dual (the mod author) barley updates any of their mods anymore beside Fisobs. i have no hate towards them, but it really sucks how we are one ones who are responsible for fixing most of their stuff, even though we really shouldn't. Its THEIR job as a mod author to keep their mods up to date and work at all with the new RW versions, not us.

I know that is is probably gonna get updated cuz its a dependency for stuff like push to meow, but my point still stands. i just wish that the other things they made got the same love as these ones.

im not having any of the problems other people are having (getting a black screen) but uhm... idk if this mod deleted the special key for the watcher but i suspect it might be this because it messes with input stuff,,

if you have programming experience and a free afternoon, this is what I did to fix the special input: there's a .NET assembly editor called dnSpy that I used to recompile the mod dll with the extra input binding. you'll need to dig around and link in all the other imported dlls for bepinex and such and fix a ton of decompilation issues, but after that there are only a few things you need to add. basically just look for anywhere the vanilla inputs are defined in the mod and add the special input as well, I think there are 4 places it's needed in. the magic constants you'll need are "vanilla:spec" and 34.
not sure how useful that will be but that's the best lead I can give if you're desperate to get the mod working right now.

for those asking how I fixed mine, sorry to get your hopes up but I think it's too janky and technical to give full instructions for, I also broke the ingame menu so I had to edit my bindings through a config file. if you're just getting the black screen issue then you MIGHT be able to fix it by unsubscribing from the mod, launching the game and entering and exiting the input menu, then redownloading the mod, but you won't be able to rebind the special input.
I do have a more technical explanation if you want to try to fix the special input but it didn't fit in one comment, and it involves decompiling and recompiling code which is really difficult to do.

The new update has indeed broken the mod. Blackscreen of death appears when the mod is active. Hopefully the mod author fixes it soon.

Can Mouse buttons be enabled? I use my mouse for pick up and throw, but with this mod i cant assign my mouse to anything. when i tried my controller i cant assign the shoulders to anything either. :(

Given that the mod hasn't been updated since 2023 I assume there won't be an update, but I'll put this here anyway. Who knows, maybe you'll come back for The Watcher.
Mod breaks binding to triggers, both using native controller support and SteamInput. I know it's been reported before, but getting a fix would be real nice, especially with other mods such as Rebind Everything and Push to Meow adding additional inputs and relying on this mod. More places to bind to.
When you try to bind either trigger on a DualSense (PS5) controller specifically, it rebinds them to "view" and "menu" buttons, but trying to use the triggers doesn't do the action regardless when bound like this.
