I run both. This mod's children will not be the same as Child mod's children stat wise but the two seem to coexist ok.

How is that this mod changes food in my inventory to be stackable? I mean just food. I don't mean trader's backpack. Suddenly I can stack more food and since I try to stick close to vanilla I don't like this feature that much :cactusrum::cactusrum::cactusrum:??

Aging would be interesting, but it isn't missing, so much as it has to be "pretended". A mod can be made to have characters at different ages and the player can progress through a life.
By the same token, the vanilla game can already do this with the player going to a plastic surgeon every once in a while, or longer if they want and remaking your character to your new age.
It isn't coded into the game or automatic as you or I might prefer, but the end result it the same. Take the time to take your character and go to a plastic surgeon and age them, and when your character dies, if you take an old save or new game and make the son or daughter of your old character. :) Role Play can be very cool. Not exactly like some RPG titles out there, but still it can be pretended in Kenshi in a way to make it real enough for a play through. :)

Maybe, haha, Anyway, i think it can be done, in a limited sort of way, and if the player is willing to suspend belief in their story and load different 'stages' and tell themselves it is all the same story. Even though it is more like several linked games in a row.
Anyway, let me know what you think and if it is worth the effort.
I have been rather distracted lately with Fallout 4, haha, but I still dearly love Kenshi. So I wouldn't mind putting the game away a bit and coming back to work on a new mod. :)

Hello All,
I think a chapters kind of mod that has characters, or animals that come in different groups so as to have them appear to 'age over time' can be done. It would mean having several levels in the mod, that could be numbered or identified in some way. Say Bonedog1, Bonedog2 and Bonedog3, (for young, middle aged and then old versions of the bonedog. I am not an artist, but perhaps if I use a different color hair for the older dogs it will appear older. Or if I can give the older dog an injury that lasts a very long time it will appear to be in a decaying or decrepit state. :)

sadly the code for the animals and player entity are vastly different, the engine for said code would throw a lot of things out of wak, would take ages(IRL) to get it to work even a little.

The engine has an aging mechanisim, but it can only be applied to animals, which are also unable to talk. So young animals might grow into adults, but the playable races can't.

Hmmm, actually I don't think they do. I did do a mod I think it was off to join the army that has characters that change over time. You play it in chapters and the characters change because they are sort of separate characters, though with the same names, we think of them as older or different. I suppose you could have your characters go to the plastic surgeon and give them gray hair or make them taller, or a little fatter, :) And in that way you could age them. But they don't get older on their own. Their are games where characters do that. And it is cool, but I don't think Kenshi does that automatically. Maybe in Kenshi 2, that would be awesome, huh? :)
Anyway, sorry. You can do it manually and pretend they are aging. :)

I am wondering if when I made player character versions that is made them all friendly. Let me take a look, but with regards to conflicts with Hive Expanded mod, you are probably right. the Families mod changes a lot of the characters and races and for the player versions, most definitely.
There may not be anything I can do about those conflicts as the author of the Hive Expanded likely changed the same files I did.
Perhaps a patch, but I will have to see if the other author is good with that.

Your mod likely conflicts with Hive Expanded mod. Fogmen become friendly and can't be attacked by the Player character.

Uninstalling your mod fixed the problem, so there's a large chance its conflicting with it

Okay, I have updated the Families mod to version 12 with a correction to the race for the Fogmen, which originally I had mistakenly put as Hivers and have put in the Fogmen race now.

In addition I have released a 13th version that changes the Hiver and Fogmen races back to a genderless state. Which is their normal Kenshi representation. If you prefer that then please use version 13.

If however you like the changes that were made to reflect a familial situation with male and female hivers and fogmen, then please use version 12.

I was wrong, I must have changed them at the base level, so they are included in any of the starts. Let me find a way to disable it. Perhaps a start that changes them back to what they are in the normal game. I'll start that now and get back with you when I'm done. It shouldn't be long.

I understand your feelings, that is perfectly fine. You should know that the starts reflect only the group you are playing, like the Nomads or the Starving Bandits. I didn't think the others were included unless you began the game with their start. So the Hivers should be normal if you choose another group to play.
Let me check though, to make sure. I don't want to have them included if you don't use their start and especially if you don't want them in your game.

Is there a way to disable the Hiver / Fogmen families? I like the others but given the nature of Hive reproduction these seem out of place to me.

I may have misunderstood and I definitely wasn't clear, sorry. I already have a "family" in my save that I created using the empty nameless squad trick to start out with mom in rebirth, dad and dog in Bast, and daughter in his mod's special story quest situation. I've reunited them all now. I wanted to add your mod to more systematically create NPC families for mine to interact with.

I think you are right. :) I can check to see what a game looks like, but I think you are right, if you start a game with his mod, his children will be in the mod. And my children will be absent, unless you start a game with my mod, and then his will be absent.

You could take your saved game and update the file with my children. But would need to edit the save file. I could use a group of my children in a save file and make a copy and rename it to nameless_1.platoon instead of nameless_0.platoon. So it will add my characters to your save file and your game. That way you will have both sets if you like.
Let me know and I can see if I can grab a copy and rename it.
Though you will have to create a second squad in your game, Even if empty. Probably especially make it empty so you don't lose anything when copying it into your save file.

Yes, Lawh's mod's children are races, so it sounds like yours would come after it with other squad spawn mods and the most conflict would be that visibly similar kids would be different depending on which mod spawned them.

I would have to test it, but my guess is that loading this mod after your child mod, will add your children to the children in my mod, so maybe both will show up? If you load after my mod, then you may still have your children and my children as well.

I think the person that made the child mod you are talking about made them a race. My mod doesn't do that. They are characters, not a race by themselves.
But I can test it and see what happens.

@Teal - you should be listing what families are finished in the description. you should also specify if these families can be spotted outside of starts, as well as a list of features, future Features.

Uh, can we not make light of autism please? For some people it's not an issue, but others can struggle greatly due to it. It's not the same for everyone, and really isn't even a factor in this whole argument here. Don't blame a group of people for no reason, and don't make light of those who actually struggle and face hardships.

Anyways, pretty cool mod! Can't wait to see how it improves Teal! Thanks for making this gem.

Btw Teal, this mod has the potential of becoming an overhaul mod.

Genealogy, Parent to child physical and statistical traits, can turn a station house into a school house, possible creation a few characters as Teachers given certain parameters.

thats just a few pokes that this mod could be capable of creating with Genmod.


then with Reactive world and UWE you can create even more flowers with how ppl see these families, whos in bed with who, Name tags with actual ties to family.


this mod is currently a rock waiting to become a planet.

as for a modding mishap, that's not from autistic people, that was the modders mistake, and people reported it, Autistic folks were not part of that I can assure you, most Autistic folks are smarter than even straight A students, most of which probably mod, or don't even bother playing games at all. so no, please keep from stupidity such as labeling stupid people with those that make even smart people look average, thank you - ; )

Okay, Fogmen's Nest is done and in. Got the start and the save. Village is NPC plus Player. includes Fogmen Females and Children and Dogs and Goats. :)

Next up I think Rebel Farmer's in the Great Desert...

Added Holy Farmer's Family complete with domesticated bull and female and bull child, Bonedog and bonedog female and pup, also goat and goat female and goat kids. :) Also added Farmer and Wife and Brother and Brother in Law, Sister in Law, 2 Sons and 2 Daughters and Old Father and Old Mother. All in Okran's Valley and setting up a Farmer's Homestead for them to include in the save. :) You of course can change their names if you like, or make your own in the editor when you make a new game. :) Still testing to make sure no problems and to get the farm built. Plus probably a barn or two for the animals.
Anyway, I will try to be done by tonight and post it then.

I am testing an addition of a Fogmen Family and an expanded All Generations Wandering Family that includes Grand-parents, Parents, Children and grand-children in the family. Wanted to add an old grand-pa and grand-ma goats. :) But not sure how I will get old and gray grand-parent goats. :) Anyway, I'll post a save when I can get the models fixed size and hair color wise. :)

Are we ever gonna get the Odyssey dev unbanned from Steam? He added this idea to his mod, but it accidentally copied over using a nude mod so it copied to the children. He quickly fixed it but autistic enemies he made in the Kenshi modding scene lied about the situation to Steam and got his stuff banned on here. I repeat again, my countrymen, can we not fix the past sins of autists and an uncarring Steam workshop moderation?

There are also many other factions and groups that would be interesting to expand, the Rebel Farmers, the Swampers, The Red Swamp Ninjas and even Bounty Hunters and Mercenaries in the United Cities.
I want to add Holy Nation Farmers as well. So, this is an on going thing. If it isn't exactly what I think it is, or you feel it isn't what you want, then I am truely sorry. But if you can give me a little bit of a break, I can try to make it better and hopefully get it to something you and other people will like. :)
