go to [Mod's folder]\common\traits

there you'll find a text document called "Rellom_over_traits".

you'll find all the vanilla traits in that document.

under each trait you find a line that says: "ruler_designer_cost = 50". change it to fit your needs.

Not sure how to start this, so i'll be blunt.

As i have been playing, I had noticed in Ruler designer how each personality trait is priced the same at fifty each.

I know it isn't my place to question your methods, as there could be reason for it being there. So would you or someone tell me of a way i could edit it myself?
So I can somewhat personalize it and re-balance?

Such as where to go for the editing process. So far i had thought it could be accessed through the mod folder, then go to common. But that is as far as i got so far. All i need is the location for vanilla personality traits, then i can experiment to see if it actually works on my end.
I've noticed how at the end each code there is the ruler designer price for each, which i could potentially edit to fit my personal needs.

As you can probably tell, i am not as experienced in coding so i do not know these things.
Help would be appreciated. Thank you.

By the way disregard my previous comment about vassal limit.

I’m so used to playing with mods that I was truly surprised when I started the game vanilla and discovered that vanilla vassal limit is 50+ for a king!

(To be honest I never noticed this mechanic until I started to play with dark ages.. I’ll keep an eye for more soft incompatibilities between dark ages and this mod)

go to [Mod's folder]\common\traits and open the text document called "Rellom_over_traits".

search for "Fortune Builder" in that file; under it you'll see some modifiers.

you want to fix this line: build_gold_cost = 0.2 // (change it to: build_gold_cost = -0.2)

Fortune Builder Education Trait has a +20% building construction cost, I'm assuming it is meant to be -20% as Midas touch has a -40% building construction cost. Wondering if you could give it a fix?

vengeful trait has "-10 vassal limit" modifier.. is that intended? (tested on a game with no mods other than yours) .... I feel like it was meant to be "-1 vassal limit".

I was a king kid having 11 vassals and I'm being demanded to let go of 10 of them because I resented another kid who pushed me at the yard (thus gaining vengeful trait).

I'll edit the file on my pc, but thought you'd like to know about it if it's not by design.

your efforts are truly appreciated! the holy trinity of CK3 mods are: "ObfusCKate", "Dark Ages", and this -"Unpredictable Character Stories".

For reference, most of the mods I'm using are ones from your "Rellom's Roleplay Collection," plus ATE. It can run fine with ATE and itself alone, but with the other mods from your collection it crashes to desktop while loading for me.

Is this mod still being updated? For some reason a recent minor update is causing this to crash when using it in my mod list now. I really love this mod though, so I don't want to have to play without it.

@Rellom, after 2-3 weeks using your mod, I'm finding the vast majority of women are either 5'2 or 5'7, with nothing in between, and I haven't found a 6 footer female yet. The tallest male I've seen who was not a giant was 6'3. Are there supposed to be more variations, or is it just short=5'2", average=5'7" etc.? And related question, my toon and his spouse are both giants, but somehow some of their kids are getting the short gene, which doesn't make a whole lot of sense (and I checked paternity, my dude is the father) -- not sure how giants have tiny offspring. In the breeding program, does your mod enforce the "tall married to tall gets you tall automatically" or is there some random element thrown in there as well (e.g. someone had a short granddad, so his gene is in the mix potentially).

I hope you can integrate the mod "Commander +" by I Am Full Truie. I use other mods of his and his ability to make immersive mods is marvelous.

but the thing is I'm not willing to go back to the old traits style, not after experiencing your amazing mod. hopefully he - and you - will be okay with integrating his mod into this one with your style.

@hamletsdead - Any changes / overwrite in the genes files, under height from other mods, will result in this. There are not that many mods that change height genes, but you managed to find one ;)

Also Character Body overhaul from Loverslab, is something that is completely incompatible. I believe also AGOT, or one of the sub mods changes height genes.

Sorry to bomb the thread, but anyone having a persistent midget/dwarf problem should check if they have Ruler Designer - Safe Genes Unlocked installed. Don't know what the conflict is, but disabling that mod made everyone immediately grow to full sized humans.

Okay, I'm 7 years into a new playthru and everyone who comes to my court becomes a dwarf. I have a mod that invites a powerful knight to court, and before I invite him, he's normal sized. After I invite him, he shrinks. Can fix it with the new Better Barbershop mod, but at court there's like 20 dwarf midgets running around. All guests are also dwarfs.

Started new game with this installed, and everyone except my giant albino toon is a dwarf. Pretty funny, but Is there a way to fix this other than waiting a year? And do the dwarfy people just spontaneously sprout up 2-3 feet after a year?

Yes, that is correct. There is an easy fix, and that is to just remove the 00_trait file from HMM.

I apologize for any potential confusion — managed to track that the "higher mortality scythe" is responsible for overwriting the traits regardless of load order

I am not sure whether it is caused by this mod, but when start on the earliest timeline, after 300 years all the people in European even all the world will get ichthyologist. Maybe this mod set a very high genetic disease rate? I don't know whether it is unreasonable but all people get the sick seems strange and affect normal experience of play.

@thepixelphoenix - Oh right, forgot they actually added new levels to the education. Also redesigned the new Eccentric trait to be more of an opposite to how I designed stubborn.

@Antick - Thanks for letting me know. Mod is updated with a fix.

Let me know if anyone find anything else with Quill patch. I'm not currently playing the game, so made a quick scan and simulation, but didn't find anything beside the education problem.

Hey wanted to report something I think was unintentional. The sweet dreams event gives you a massive health boost and -200% stress. This is insanely overpowered for just having a sweet tooth and I think someone forgot to add a decimal. Overall great mod really enjoying it.

@artogr - Yes, there is for sure things that stick out. opinion, and also other modifiers that are outside what I also would consider realistic (or fun.) Some is needed for balance, but I think a 3rd major overhaul, going through each trait, with the mindset of yours, making it a bit more subtle, is going to be something I'll be working on.

This mod is wonderful, just what i've been looking for! Great job! In spite of this, I must agree that the opinion modifiers may get a little too overwhelming at some points, the modifiers add up and even though my ruler may be a great diplomat, his vassals will hate him just because he is a hunter (-10 feudal opinion), hale (-10 feudal opinion) and brave (-5 feudal opinion). Or for example the fact that brave and craven characters have a -50 opinion of each other, being brave does not necessarily mean you'd hate anyone who is a craven, you may disrespect them sure which could be represented by around -10 opinion but you wouldn't hold a grudge over them just because of their craven nature. The mod itself is great and you're doing a wonderful job, I just hope that due to the amount of traits you have included perhaps you may consider making the opinion modifiers more subtle. Thank you for your work!

@M82 - There should not be any single trait with that high opinion definers (if so, is it a mistake,) but a combination of many of them, could bring it to those numbers. Maybe your character is just not a very nice person to be around?

I really don't dig the opinion modifier changes for character traits. I don't like having between -50 to -99 opinion with almost everyone who isn't of my culture or doesn't share my traits, it breaks the game.
