Good job.
I will try it out soon.
I have tried this map now - I think it is really GOOD.
Well worth trying,
adds a whole new dimension to my Mod.
A map for your custom units mod.
Will you put it up on the Workshop?
Thanks for the suggestions. I will eventually get to messing about with the maps.
I think a lot of us grew up with AH games. I have seen them played online with Vassal Engine. Maybe someday I will have the time to look more into that possibility. There seems to be an active community of online players on Vassal.
So, thanks for responding, and thank you especially for this mod!
When you randomly generate a Battle/Map.
You can edit this Map and give it a unique name.
Then play your edited Map.
A good edit ,I think for visual flair and also better gameplay is-
Add 1 or 2 edges of map as Sea Areas, dont have to be many hexes wide ,vary 1 to 3 hexes.
This looks like a coast and makes the Map more attractive.
And add Rivers ,this is a bit more work. Doesnt matter if the connections are a bit wonky.
Make sure to add some Bridges too.
maybe the Sea Bridges (big heavy bridges) are easier to use for this.
The Random Map Generator ,unless it has been updated and I dont know cannot add Rivers at all. This solves that problem.
An idea for Map name is maybe ,abbreviation for countries and an indicator it is for AIW ,eg
AIW fra vs Egt
Did not seem real popular.
I thought it was good.
I think some people dont like Random battle ,else dont like the time period much.
You probably noticed ,I made the mortars and some of the Arty represented with AH Panzer Leader type graphics. That was main inspiration ,also in that game the Infantry was nato rectangles and the AFVs silhouettes. I played that Board Game a lot over the years. Got it a long long time ago. I even made up my own custom Board Game Rules about 5 years that coincidently mimicked the WAW85 rules. This before I had heard of WAW85 Board Game by the way. I own all 3 games in the Board Game Series ,only really played Panzer Leader ,never played AIW or Panzer Blitz much. I commonly used Maps from other games to play on.
I have introduced Black & White Photo Unit Art for the Nato Boxes ,just for Main Battle Tanks and some other AFV units that I find interesting. There is still the unit size indicator and instead of a "football" inside a rectangle ,there is now a period specific picture in classic Black/White of a tank inside the Nato Rectangle. See what you think -it does add to the graphical allure and draws attention to the powerful Tank Units. Still using the odd "football" for Individual Tank Vehicles and some Tank Platoons ,just for a visual contrast/flair.
Other than that ,Nato Symbols.

Just added

Libya
Syria
I am using Nato Pictures for the Units.
I am going to add a slight twist to the GUN Nato Symbols, like in the
The Arab-Israeli Wars: Tank Battles in the Mideast (1977)Board Game by AVALON HILL
these GUN Nato Symbols are a little different.
Other than that standard Nato.
I am also using "Unit size indicators" ,
Section or Vehicle or Gun
Platoon
Company
And I am scaling the Unit HPs ,INF ATT, ARM ATT ,MPs and COST to suit my three different Unit Sizes.
