I'm afraid to say that this seems to be the case, yes, and it may be a Overclock overheating thing that these things now require additional heat management tools.

@rabbitking14 They are designed to push objects to move them, which is more efficient than tractor beams.

Omega series updated to Omega V. Much easier to drive now, since it can move and rotate in all directions.

the Omega 4 is a great design. As long as you dont touch the sun or any asteroids for that matter you can stay inside the suns sphere indefinetly and fly it just like any other ship and since its a sphere you dont even have to bother with always orienting the shield in the right direction. Truly a phenomenal design <3
maybe not suited for early game though with its 20 shields and I personally modded it to have a bit less thrust but more cargo instead

Komyeta's Star Divers are much easier to use, but this is nice for early on. I love the way the Omega looks, it's a giant shielded S P H E R E .

Yeah, I'm aware of that. Both my points are valid though. One, the Dyson Miner Omega IV is screwed and doesn't even MOVE without you changing crew assignments, let alone have all equipment manned and powered. And, Two, they are called 'Miners' and don't even mine. Whatever works for you, but that doesn't work for me.

@cardzy as explained in the description, these ships are for taking asteroids inside the sun outside.

The Dyson Miner Mini III doesn't even have a miner! So confused as to how any of these are useful at all. Nice try I guess? Removing ships now.

Yeah, so your crew are totally F'd up on the Dyson Miner Omega IV. You have a ton of ammo suppliers but no guns. have no operators for miners, no energy going to them, nobody manning the ship at all, etc.

As of June 24, 2023 this kind of Sun Diver is obsolete since now you can use the new "Resource Collector" to mine asteroids directly in the sun area. I've added "Dyson Miner Omega IV" using this new part, but I won't be updating any other types.

I'll come back with a new brand of Sun Divers in the future that has been designed with RC in mind.

Updated Mini II model to Mini III .

Added new model, Omega. It is not efficient AT ALL, but does have 360° shields that protect you from every angle.

@Komyeta I've found that the thruster placement is key. As long as you keep the center of mass of asteroid between ship's path vector and thrust force vector, the ship won't rotate and expose sides(one of the screenshots shows this).


I've applied this knowledge when designing Dyson Miner Mini ship, and it basically never exposes its sides to the sun even when the center of mass is completely off.

Nice! They look a lot more practical than the designs I uploaded. Although mine do have tractor beams. It seems a bit more dangerous to rely on pushing though.

@nic4. Yup, shields. The sun ray gets stronger the closer you get so you need a very optimized build to reach the deepest ores.

just curious, how does this ship not just get torn apart by the sun? just the shields?

Right now it doesn’t have an airlock because I forgot to add any cuz Creative mode automatically gives you crew… will fix tomorrow.

@Darth Porgus I replaced the budget version with the new Dyson Miner Mini that is superior in every way. It’s half the cost, need less crew, more stable, and can dive twice as deep.
