Guess the developer of the mod doesn't really play Rimworld anymore, or doesn't really have the time. Shame, this was a really good mod to have.

maybe make only craftable weapons do that (or as an option or separate mod)? if you can't craft it, you can't fix it

I'd argue that it shouldn't be quick for some weapons, however, based on their complexity - and you know, limit some of it to researches, perhaps?

Like, I'd argue routine maintenance of guns would take some time to potentially disassemble, clean, then reassemble.

It's probably a bit much for you, though. I can understand.

Deterioration would still be good for all the junk items that raiders may drop, corpses, etc

At this point why not disable deterioration entirely?
